He must’ve been special then !! That’s back when I was playing,but without  actually playing against them you hardly heard about other kids outside the area much. Nowadays it’s a lot easier to keep up with having social media

Crazy part about it was he wasn't heavily recruited coming out of High School with 3 offers Mississippi being the biggest.  I remember watching him at Ole Miss with a taped up cast on his arm have 15 tackles against UT

Yeah, 3 stars. What a joke. That tells you something about the people doing the ratings.  Any idiot could have watched 5 minutes of tape on him and saw he was a beast.

Willis wanted to go to UT but UT was crazy over another West Tn kid, Daniel Brooks from JCM. The Oline coach at the time, Mike Barry was sold on Willis and was the only coach to watch him live, west tn was his recruiting territory. Barry had a fit over Tn not offering him. I’ve heard he and Chavis almost came to blows over it. Anyway, Brooks got an offer and was kicked off the team within a year and Patrick Willis went on to Ole Miss and NFL stardom. Mike Barry resigned at UT.

For me I would have to go with Kelcey Williams from Humboldt as the best rb with Flowers a close 2nd. Followed in no particular order. Mario Mcelrath from UC. Nick Hampton WV, Raphael Hill WV, Earnest Fields Milan, George Kidd Milan, Joe Longmire, Bruceton. All Around players. Willis by a long shot. Fields, Kidd, Chris Donald.

      He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.

      Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!

      This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
