4 best teams made it to the semis. I predict Gordonsville vs Clay Co in the championship game.

I believe the two best teams made it to the regional championship. It should be an exciting game Thursday night on a neutral floor. Clay will be the favorite but I look for an upset.

Monterey record last three years 73-36 if you count this year 96-41 Strength of schedule average over this time 18.25 schedule rank 28.5

Clay Co record last three years 85-21 if you count this year 109-24 strength of schedule average over this time 6.25 schedule rank 8

I did not add Jackson or Gordonsville  Coach Bibb first year Coach Thomas second year  so to use the past 3-4 years with them not there makes no sense

I would rank Coach West 5th

Region Champs. Not bad for the “5th best coach”!!

I would love to hear your reasoning behind this?

When you win over a long period of time year in year out that’s why I put him 5th. Coach West has won a couple of years win for a long stretch and I might think different.

If I could pick one, my son would play for him over anyone in the Upper Cumberland.  Very Calm, humble, doesnt embarrass himself or degrade the kids.  His kids play with more heart, without the athleticism or ability.

Coach West would be a great coach to play for. I’m just saying his the 5th best coach in the conference. That’s not a disrespect comment it’s just we have good coaches in this league.

Now grant it I am no basketball guru but I love to watch and have watched every coach in this District for many years now. I will say that Edwards is a real good coach and Amonette is a real good Coach but from there you are going to be hard pressed to convince me that Thomas from Jackson County is a better coach and that Pyle from Clarkrange is a better coach, that the coach from Red Boiling Springs is better coach, had Marsh not transferred there they would not have won a district game,  the coach from Trousdale is not a better coach he just has a lot of athletes on his team and who really knows what kind of coach Bibb really is. Also it is really hard to compare apples to oranges. Clay County has always been a basketball school but in reality how many games would Clay County have won the years that Tyreke was there had he not been there. He was 1 of those players that come along once in a coaches career. He would have made any coach look great.  So to say that he is the 5th best coach makes me think that you are (1) a hater or (2) a former player of his that must have been really bad and never got any playing time or (3) a former player from one of the other schools in the district.  I am not saying that Monterey is a basketball power house but I do know that in the last several years that teams have dreaded playing them because most games they were going to give you all that you wanted and you would have to play your best to beat them and that mentality does not start with 16 year old young men so someone has been having to instill that in them. In closing I am not saying that he is the best coach in the district but he by far should be ranked higher than 5th. Just my 2 cents

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
