TigerNation
How much of the ticket sales does each school make at the State Championship games? The answer is 0. None of the gate money OR the tickets that schools presale goes to the schools. I know there has been a lot of displeasure with the TSSAA from people on this board, but this is theft. How much longer do we let the TSSAA line their pockets instead of letting programs keep that money?
Tide21
We were told they got a percentage of the tickets as long as they were presold at the school

ItsAlwaysSunnyInAtwood
If this is true I'd sue. I'm not one to really ever offer that advice but if this is true the TSSAA needs to be put in check.

The TSSAA pays schools from the money that Cookeville gives them to host the games there. Each school is guaranteed something like $2700 and then 18 teams split an additional $50,000 based on what your team presales. There’s no percentage of your actual sale or gate money that goes to TSSAA. Meigs County presold nearly 1000 tickets. That’s $12,000. They won’t make half of that back. This is money that should be going back to programs, but the sheriff of Nottingham that is the TSSAA must be paid their dues.

You get a percentage of the money set aside, not what you sell. The TSSAA sets aside $100,000 which sounds like a lot, but it’s only 8,300 tickets. That’s how the TSSAA guarantees themself to make more money, by keeping the money from ticket sales. You could theoretically presale $1,000,000 worth of tickets and make less than ten grand. An unregulated monopoly has market power and can influence prices. Sound familiar?
