I don't be want to bash Alcoa or Maryville. Those kids work just as hard as any.  I do not agree with the coaching statement.  A lot of good coaches out there.   I have always said that players make coaches.  I our area a few years back everyone was talking about Osteen being the best coach around.  Last couple years they have been good but nothing special but Osteen is still as good of a coach as he was.  Same with Coach Blade at Indy.  Athletes make coaches

I said the same thing about why cut down kids chances to play for a gold ball.. of course maryville and alcoa just say were envious and less is better. They would be satisfied if we just make 2 classifications and give them each a ball at the beginning of the season. And they argue they are better 100% because the coaches are better and they assure me all the kids they play are all born and raised there.. suuuuuuuuuure they are .

Roll Wildcats Roll. None of the great OR teams had kids born there!

Blade got a little lucky that Indy got to be in 5A for a couple years and dominate.  Since Indy has been back in 6A i don’t think the results have been too pretty.

Division 2 is a joke. Play same teams in season and in playoffs. Nine champions is ridiculous for Tennessee. I would like to see the entire state public and private combined in 5 classifications. As for any advantage, schools recruiting, having open zones, and such, there is no such thing as all being equal. What is sad to me is that public schools and coaches are cheating as much as once thought to be only the privates.

Ya'll think any of the kids playing in the championship games thought "Man, I sure wish there were fewer classes in Tennessee.  This gold ball won't mean much since they give out 9." ??

Mississippi has fewer schools, fewer students, and a full public/private split.  They have 12 football state champions every year.  Is it too many?  Probably.  Do the kids care?  No.

If Tennessee decreases the number of classes, how does it positively impact the athletes? Maybe there's a reasonable argument for this, but I haven't seen it on these boards yet.

Gold balls are already hard to get and pretty rare for most teams. Why would anyone argue for less chances to get one?

Two reasons:

1-They like more competitive games.

2-They lie saying they like more competitive games and the reduction in the number of classes would benefit "their" school.

    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
