So to ask the question a different way, since you chose to not answer it directly, what is your opinion of CT as a coach?

To your accusation, maybe I am kinfolk or should be - I may be an uncle of a player at MSSU that saw him change some young men, or perhaps a parent of a player at ND who saw him enforce respect for parents, then again I might be a Raptor dad who appreciates the extra time he spent working with my boy to teach him the offense, or maybe I am just a NJ guy who has watched a man come in and challenge our kids not to just play football but to be involved in the community ~ like working your precious skillet bread festival or helping out a couple of old farmers.

If you have a negative opinion about him, just say it...…..

LOPAO, Old Pirate has addressed feelings, thoughts & opinion. OP says The #1 thing a coach needs to establish are stability & commitment. The back pack reputation reflects short term self promotion. Appears Jasper has chose another back pack self promoter. Most say DP is a fine guy & good coach. Old Pirate would never favor a known short term hire.

Maybe, I have missed it but where is the Press Releases on this hire?  Are we all still speculating or is it a done deal?  After reading you guys responses and if the retirement dates are all correct and at his age.  SInce he is so highly thought off from all accounts and with the personal connection/relationships from the past he is certainly wise for parlaying his services for at least 3 years to set himself and family up nicely for some extra income as apposed to waiting several more years for that to happen.  Most good guys will get 3 years regardless of wins an losses so he will come out of this deal smelling like a rose.  Its not what you know, its who you know!

Coaches like to reach landmark wins, appears he is close to 300. Ifin he stayed in Trenton, it would obviously be a spell. Old Pirate ain’t sure but thought he was @ Jasper fer 3 years? If so, he would need only 2 to git Tn retirement.

He coached only 2 years 04-05 football seasons.

RD, Them former Circle Fly school coaches is skilled @ recruiting better than them orchestrater fellers!

Credit due - you and RD made me laugh! While I don't agree with your philosophy in early years of coaching ~ I think you can benefit a lot, learning under various head coaches. Now as the HBC, I agree tenure is key to building a great program. But with that said - Rankin has been HBC at 4 different schools. Never saw his leaving Riverdale coming, but moving to A-town has been good. If that is slowing down, I sure would like to slow down that way.

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
    • This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
