District 1-AAA Outlook for week of 1-20-20

Well we are through the first go round of conference play in most, if not every district in the Volunteer state.  Tomorrow will start the second round for most everyone.  I will focus on District 1 schools as far as giving outlooks and reviews as we head rapidly toward the postseason.

After Friday's district contests in District 1-AAA

Monday, January 20:

• Daniel Boone at Greeneville
• Morristown East at Cherokee

Tuesday, January 21:

• Dobyns-Bennett at Tennessee High
• Daniel Boone at Volunteer
• Cherokee at David Crockett

Friday January 24:

• Science Hill at Tennessee High
• Cherokee at Daniel Boone
• David Crockett at Volunteer

Saturday, January 25:

• Dobyns-Bennett at Greeneville

Friday saw D-B go into Johnson City and nearly pull off the major upset, taking the Hilltoppers to Overtime before falling by three.  Also, Boone and Crockett played a thriller as well with Boone prevailing in double OT.  Cherokee has been much improved of late, playing even with D-B in the first half before falling and defeating rival Volunteer for their first district win Friday night.  The two big games this week will be played at Viking Hall.  Tennessee High was predicted to finish at the top of the district by some folks in the preseason but have disappointed so far with three losses through the first go round.  The Vikings will have chances to redeem two of those losses this week against D-B and Science Hill.  Both should be good contests.

Crockett 57 Cherokee 52 Tennessee High 63 Dobyns Bennett 59 Boone 77 Volunteer 52. Things really gets complicated now with DB going down still a 3 way tie for 3rd with only a game out of 2nd.

I wouldn't say complicated... Science Hill has the district in the bag now because they aren't going to lose twice in their final six.

What a week for Tennessee High beat both DB and Science Hill. Still Science Hill DB followed by a 3 way tie for 3rd with Crockett Boone and Tennessee High. This Friday is a huge showdown with DB at Crockett. Huge week for Boone tomorrow Tennessee High and Friday Science Hill.
