This is the part that definitely stood out to me.  Excerpt:

However, sources close to the situation tell News 12 that a former assistant coach is the front-runner.

Griffith says no names have come across his desk just yet. However, he believes the rumored replacement would not qualify due to a previous criminal incident and lack of teaching certificate.

Hearing nothing has changed. Still name mentioned few weeks back.

Why would Griffith, Marion County Schools Superintendent, interject himself into this article regarding a 'rumored' candidate?  Bringing up a previous criminal incident?

And then goes on to say Whitwell needs stability when rumor is he backs Ross coming back to the Valley?

What kind of stability is that?  Ross spent a couple minutes at South Pittsburg, give or take a few seconds,  then was brought to Jasper and skipped out after 2 years while the whole time he was telling his coaching staff and players he wasn't going anywhere.  Next thing you know ... poof, he was gone.

Is that the type of stability Whitwell needs or is there something else going on behind the scenes?

RR is not the next coach at Whitwell.

I guess Griffy wants to setup The W for a disaster.

According to Griffy there is no official applications.  So for now, they have no coach.  Should make spring practice simple. That's kinda what Ricki did to SP leaving them without a spring practice and got us a home and away with a 2a power in Kentucky.

Whitwell gets North Jackson at home.  When that news broke I stated someone must be on their way out the door at Whitwell.

Also Bell County is 3A in Kentucky.  They went 14-1 last year falling to the Belfry Pirates in the state title game.

    • Agree. The man literally sacrificed time, moments, memories you can't get back with his own family for every single athlete at that school. (and many others) To those that continue to be negative about him and continue to bring him up; He's been loyal, hardworking and just his entire coaching career. Ask anyone that actually has a leg to stand on in regard to Coach.
    • Egotistical? That's a new one.  It's funny, I'm friends with two of the younger coaches that he "ran off" as you say. In fact, he helped them find jobs, encouraged them to do what was best for their growing families, provided advice, support and still does to this day.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out, you don’t wanna go to the grave with that on your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
