The updated Pin TN rankings are pretty spot on from my perspective (especially at #1):

http://www.pin-tn.com/?page_id=1207

The only weight I think will be interesting (as it relates to the top #1 of the ticket) is at 170lb- how will Jacorey Miller fair in this weight class moving up from wrestling in 160lb all season? I think it may be a stretch to put him at #1 here. I think it will be between Cagle and Garriques. Garriques has wrestled Cagle pretty tough in the Regionals and should be a good match.

At 145lb, not sure if Radpour is #2 here, will be a tough match for him Vs Robbie Barnes in the semis. But Anthony should take the Championship.

Same with 152lb, although Anthony Manella won the Regional (great win for him) will face a very tough Lawrence Madson in the semis. Should be a great match...but either will be runner up to Garrett Bowers.

We will see....

In their only match-up at 170, Miller defeated Cagle in a great match 3-1 in OT at the State Duals two weeks ago.

In their only match-up at 152, Madson defeated Manella in a great match 3-1 at Ryan in the Dual.

The justification for Miller moving to 170lb makes sense as he did not have the same outcome Vs Whitworth and Alvarez at 160lb in their duals this year.

Madson and Manella will be a great match for sure! Good luck to all of these guys- would be fun if a few break through and disrupt the status quo at the top.

#1 Harper vs. #2 Petersen at 195 is a toss-up and will be a great finals match.  Harper won the in season matchup 4-3.  Both are HS All-Americans and highly regarded nationally.

Agree! Maybe the best matchup of the entire TSSAA tournament...will be a brawl! In my unsolicited opinion...going with Harper in this one.

Kudos to the Coach that updated the Pin TN rankings prior to the tournament- the only areas that did not play out as listed (after the  semi-finals):

145: #1 Evan Anthony Vs #5 Benjamin Marchetti (great tournament for Marchetti- close win over Radpour 6-4- BIG win over Barnes 9-1)

152: #1 Garrett Bowers Vs #3 Lawrence Madson (not far off and in my opinion Madson was #2 based on regular season)

182: #1 Connor Duffy Vs #3 Chase Looper

Based on the last PinTn DII Rankings...this was pretty spot on at the top of the ticket! ALL other #1 Vs #2 in every other weight class are set as listed.

My key matches for tomorrow "in the finals":

120: #1 Dayne Darymple Vs #2 Jack Braman- can Braman redeem from earlier loss? Darymple may be too strong....

160: #1 Alex Whitworth Vs #2 Omaury Alvarez- Alvarez has wrestled Whitworth closer than anyone in TN over the past few years and seems to be closing the gap and had a huge win over Spell in semis....Does he get Whitworth in the finals? Should be a great match. Not bad for a freshman...either way, his future is bright. Going to go on a limb....Alvarez wins state.

170: #1 Gavin Cagle Vs #2 Jacorey Miller- can Cagle redeem earlier 3-1 loss to Miller. Miller's move to 170 may have been a brilliant move. Jacorey is very quick and athletic....but I think Cagle comes back and takes the state here.

195: #1 David Harper Vs #2 Parker Peterson: WOW! Per previous comments by Bearcat 90- I think this will be the match of the tournament...going with Harper on this one. Will be close.

220: #2 Al Wooten Vs #2 Barrett Chambers: Chambers gives up a lot of size to Wooten, not sure he can overcome. Wooten is the safe pick. I think Shack Van Dusen may have a trick up his sleeve strategy wise and may give the underdog Chambers an edge. Going with Chambers!

These are the interesting matches from my perspective...the rest of the weight classes I think will go #1 over #2 as listed.

Whitworth showed up to play! Kudos to him- Congratulations.

Cagle gets redemption from dual loss against Miller- congrats to both.

Team Runner-up is getting close between McCallie and CBHS!

Great win and season for Connor Duffy! Great kid!

Harper comes out on Top in the big showdown with Peterson! Big win. Peterson will get his down the road. Congrats to both.

Wooten too much for Chambers. Kid is a beast! Congrats to both!

At this point starting at 152...McCallie, Baylor and CBHS all with 2 Champions...McCallie about to get another at HWT.

Howard does what he has done all season!

Cordey takes care of business!

McCallie and Baylor with 3 Champs and CBHS with 2 to this point.

Bond's experience too strong comes through with big win!! Congrats! McTorrey's future very bright, for an 8th grader very tough and scrappy- fun to watch! Congrats to both!

Next Match Braman Vs Dalrymple may decide the team runner up....should be a good one.

Dalrymple with huge win- kid is strong. Braman put up a good fight. Congrats to both!

Baylor with 4 Champs, McCallie and CBHS with 3 to this point....CBHS takes control of runner up position.

Emory Taylor shows why he is one of the best, good win! Congrats.

Big CONGRATS to Noah Horst! 4X TSSAA State Champion! Quite an accomplishment!

Baylor with 5 Champs, McCallie with 4 and CBHS with 3.

Dendy with his 2nd State Championship as a Soph (may be on his way to a 4X State Champ)! IMO- Dendy is the best P4P wrestler (at least in DII) and fun to watch. Pitts is a fighter and did a good job tonight! Congrats to both young men.

Anthony closes victorious for CBHS! Marchetti had a great run in this championship coming in ranked #5 in PinTN rankings- can hold his head high!

Congratulations to Baylor #1 (6 Champs), CBHS #2 (4 Champs) and #3 McCallie (4 Champs).

I meant to  focus more on the 13 top 4 finishes. Has that been done before?

That is not a stat that is actually kept but talking to some guys that really know TN wrestling history, they said there been multiple times that teams have placed all 14 weights.  If you look at just D2 since the spilt this wasn’t even the most points scored by a team.  You have to remember just how dominate the Father Ryan teams of the mid teens were.

It’s now been posted online so I’ll mention it here.  Christian Brothers Evan Anthony maybe the toughest kid in Tennessee.  He won his state title yesterday and wrestled the entire State and region tournaments with a torn ACL. He is having surgery this week to get it repaired.  Big kudos to Garrett Bowers for moving up a weight class so Evan could drop and have an easier path to get his state title.
