When was the last time that two teams from region 4 swept region 3 in substate action?

Under the current district setup, 2009 was the first year 8AA and 6AA were as they are now. Prior to 2009, private schools, etc were included.

Since 2009 this is the first year that 8AA has swept. 6AA has swept 3 times, 2010(Tyner/Howard), 2015 and 2016 Brainerd/Central swept both years.

There have been 24 sectional games since 2009. Brainerd, Howard and LA have won 5 each. Tyner-3, Baxter-2, Central-2, Macon and York-1 each.

Correction: 6AA has swept 4 times, I left out 2019.

Thought we had it done but couldn't close it out. Congrats to Cleveland and good luck!!

Tyner has a fine ball team. I was impressed with your coach and those kids played hard. Both teams left it all out on the floor. Hated to see either team lose. It was the type game that when time ran out, York was in the lead. Good luck in the future to you all.

Thanks and good luck to the York! Our prayers continue for the folks in the Upper Cumberland!!

I said that no chattanooga team would make it to the boro.  I was surprised Howard only lost by 2.  But in no way should York had beat Tyner, they have to much talent on that team.  Tyner and Red bank all i have to say is wow.  Then Brainerd returned 5 key players including 5 starters from last years team, and picks up a big man from East Hamilton smh is all I can do

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
