ecu
With President Trump adding another 15 days, that puts us with only about 3 weeks left for most school systems. Time for TSSAA to end this sports year. We think only about HS sports but what about summer teams?
URSUS
It would depend on a number of factors. Most youth programs seem to in line with CDC and government policies about shutting down their programs. I think baseball and softball may be hit particularly hard due to their reliance on public parks and facilities that may remain shut down throughout the crisis. There are some recommendations to continue this through June.

There are some recommendations to continue this through June. One local director of a Little League Organization told me that they are hoping to play an abbreviated schedule in June & July. He said he was hoping that the teams could begin practice around May 10th with play beginning Memorial Day weekend. All the teams would play around 20 games for the regular season and then have a one week tournament. Youth baseball is meant to be played in the hot summer months and this may very well be a great idea.
mjuhb
This is what I was told, so I’d assume this applies to all spring sports. You can start back playing games May 2. You’ve got 3 weeks to play your regular season district schedule and with that I doubt if baseball/softball can play a home & away series or a double elimination tournament. District tournament is the last week in May. Region is in June and spring fling will be the week after. The quarantine date is going to keep getting moved. TSSAA should do the right thing and cancel all events and get rid of the dead period this summer. But they won’t cause they are in the business of making money. TSSAA makes their money from gate fees during playoffs so wouldn't it be in their interest to have spring playoffs? My concern would be if there is a playoff, are pitcher's going to be in shape to play many games over a shortened time period?
Goldenpride
My sister in law teaches at Peabody and they got a call from the superintendent today to be ready for an order from the Governor to shut the schools down for the rest of the year, so if that happens I doubt we will have a state in basketball or the spring unfortunately

crazzyness
A fun side bet will be if the TSSAA will refund the officials the registration fee they payed to call 4 says of baseball and/or softball. I say fat chance.
