How to finish the season...if allowed...

What is everyone's thoughts on how to finish the season.  Play everyone in your district one time and then seed  district tournament off of that?

Or...

Do it like travel.  Each district do a weekend tournament, blind draw for seeding, play maybe one pool game, and then do a double elimination to get to who goes on to region?

Just throwing ideas out there.  No wrong or right answer.

Almost now way for our district to play everybody once at this point - too many teams (8).  However, most have played at least 1 game, if not 2.  Having that info plus tie-breakers in place, seeding could be accomplished to have district tournament very similar to what would have been.  Playing all opponents once would be the best scenario, but that just won't be the case this year.

Could maybe take a few days and play a round robin tournament to determine teams for the region, but larger districts would be playing a lot of games in a row.

Good ideas.  Yes.  It will be tough no matter what they do.

For 8 teams divide into two groups (however you want) and play a one day round robin. Then set up a double elimination with a A teams playing B teams in first round. If you can find a park with two fields would be very easy to do.

If schools go back on April 24th, the TSSAA should mandate no games should be played until May 1st for acclamation and conditioning.

From May 1st to May 14th.- Play District Games

Districts could play each other once and seed that way. They could split into divisions. Many options depending on size of district.

May 15th-May 21st- District Tournaments

May 26th-May 30th- Region/Sectional

June 3rd- Start Spring Fling

I like this idea.  And pray no rain.

Per Bernard Childress, the spring fling will be June 9-12, 2020 if we are permitted to play.

It's too bad they couldn't push back to July, if possible. Two weeks of practice, scrimmages, then single elimination tournaments. Finish with four teams in each class, going to one location. Doesn't have to be Murfreesboro, necessarily. You could be done in another week and a half.

If you really want to speed up, have your districts quickly, then take each sectional (example, districts 5-8 in Class AA), top four from each in a one day, 16-team, five-inning, single elimination tournament. Same for the other sectionals.

One of the reasons was not allowing graduates to play in a TSSAA event, but every year there are seniors who graduated the previous week or two playing in Murfreesboro at the state. What's the difference in 7 days and a couple of months.

Again, that's if conditions allow.

Some of these students already have plans at this point where they can't play anymore. It was time to move on.
