I want sports back as much as anyone, but this is the biggest public health crisis in over 100 years, sports is a luxury. I hate it for the kids but it's for the best It is the biggest crisis because of the absolute overblown media and social media. It got people in an outright panic from the jump! Between 40,000 and 60,000 Americans die every single year from the flu. It’s very contagious and negatively impacts the elderly and at-risk in severe ways...just like this does. We should be smart, sanitize, keep the vulnerable safe, and go back to life. No reason to live in fear. We have hundreds of thousands of deaths from infectious diseases, heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, and cancer every single year! Life is a risk by nature. God’s in control. Let’s get back to life and not live in absolute panic and fear.
District12AA
Some of you are really buying into the fear porn out there. The data is trending in the right direction. Ohio just announced they are having a phased reopening starting May 1. European countries are sending their students back to school. Don't let the mainstream media control you. Antibodies testing in California is revealing the virus is far more wide spread than anyone knew and that the coronavirus death rate is right in line with the traditional flu which is .1% while the Spanish Flu was 2.6%

Yeah, and the vaccine is such a crutch anyway. How’s that flu vaccine working out?!! We still have 40,000 to 60,000 people die annually with a vaccine in place. People refuse to take them historically, in big numbers. So, a vaccine will never be the end all be all. It’s a media narrative. It’ll be nice when we get it, but until then it’s time to move away from the fear and panic, and get back to life in a safe way. Common sense. I hate it for the kids but it's for the best I cannot follow that logic until alcohol, cigarettes and abortion are taken off the table. All kill a lot of people. The economy can take a hit but cannot come to a halt. Numbers are trending downward but one has to access if social distancing has effected natural immunity. Like others have said the numbers are not accurate.

Georgia starts the same time we do and they have TWO (2) open dates and they finish their season 1 week after we do. Texas finishes their season the week end prior to Christmas. How will this hurt basketball? Don't use the statement that football players also play basketball. Guess Georgia and Texas don't have football players playing basketball! Only when a vaccine and drug is developed can things can get back to normal. This is the biggest difference from all the things you mention. Thank goodness God is in control and not you. As a matter of fact ,I am. I enjoy and love sports. I played at MTSU. Everything you have mentioned in our society has a medical treatment. Currently social distancing is the only proven way to combat this illness. In my professional opinion until we have a proven medical treatment there will be no sports or large group activities. I feel very strongly about this. I will always lean toward public health and what is best for society.

The sanitizing and safety issues will be widely accepted by everyone and we will move on with life. We cannot let one specific infectious disease bring down society in just about every way, especially when the models were so very wrong. It’s not near as bad as what the media and some health experts and politicians were spouting out early on. We have to be smart and quit living in fear.
