You and I have clearly dug our heels in, but dang, shouldn't we be trying to look out for others, maybe a little bit?

School administrators make decisions best for everyone in school or school activities.  Not the philosophy that everyone take care of themselves. If the large school systems shut down athletics the whole state will also, if not from TSSAA, the governor.

That would also include colleges.

I look out for others constantly and I’m very safe about it...just don’t see masks as the end all be all and the absolute preventative measure that many people suggest.

I’m more focused on the death and hospitalizations rather than the case count. The case count may not be fully legit but, even if it is, a large amount of these new cases are not serious or are asymptomatic. It’s just not significant because testing has increased in large numbers and we are opening up all over the country. The death rate is plummeting as a result, which is great news. If we’re going to get caught up in case counts and running tally totals, it’s just a numbers game for catchy headlines. Why don’t we do the same with the flu?! Case counts can skyrocket annually with the flu. It’s not a bad thing that many young and healthy people are getting this virus all over with little to no symptoms. That herd immunity is crucial for our population to get through this just like the flu. Again, maybe masks help but maybe they don’t. I just don’t like when people try to boss others around not knowing the truth or having proof if it even helps. You take care of you and I’ll take care of me...just like all other aspects of life.

I agree with how you are counting it. I want to know hospitalizations, hosp. rates, deaths, and death rate.

That said, I don't think it hurts to take a little extra precaution to prevent something if it can help. If it drops the transmission rate as little as .1, that makes a big difference over the long run with potential high-risk people being infected with it.

The even smarter thing is for at risk people to refrain from being around many people...again, it’s a personal responsibility issue like life is in general. If they risk themselves, that’s not my problem. I will be smart and safe when I’m around people regardless.

Just out of curiosity 22, what would you say to all of those folks out there who just don't care one way or the other about this situation? Those that are heck-bent on living their life, just like they were 6 months ago, and they have no intention of doing things any differently?

First off, we can’t control the crazies whatsoever, similar to criminals in normal life. They are going to act badly no matter what. I would tell everyone to wash your hands frequently and distance when possible, and certainly cough and sneeze into your arm. If the at risk want to go out, then go for it. If they feel like they should wear a mask, wear it. It seems like common sense stuff to me, but I think we’ve lost a lot of common sense nowadays unfortunately.

I agree. But people cannot live like hermits forever. And as we've seen, people that totally isolate themselves have occasionally gotten it. But any steps we can get to get the transmission rate below 1.0 quicker will be steps that will get us back to normal quicker.

They are not going to allow big crowds at school when kids start testing positive for covid. Everyone knows this is more contagious than the flu. If they even try to start season I will be surprised if it makes it to the 1st regular season game.

Sadly schools are not going to be operating regular and there will be no fall sports. All this talk and  workouts are going to be  for nothing . Sorry

There will be football this fall. It may be different than what everyone is used to and may not be convenient for everyone, mostly for fans. But I do believe there will be football. It’s hard to screw kids who have worked their tails off for years out of an entire season, especially Seniors who don’t have another year of eligibility. HS is not like the NFL or College. Those guys will be granted another year of eligibility and be paid regardless. Hs players don’t have either of those luxury’s. It’s time to get over this Covid stuff, quit listening to the doom and gloom news stations pumping everyone with horror for their own agendas and get back to life. Just my opinion

I don't disagree, cat. But that fact won't ultimately sway KCS's decision, right, wrong, or indifferent. We went through the same thing in the spring, and my heart hurt for those seniors, just like it will for these seniors if they ultimately don't play.

    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
    • McKenzie had no trouble with Huntingdon.
    • Has BA landed any cornfed cowboys to block up front?
    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
