Polk should have a good year, but the rest will probably be down. IMO there’s a big gap between Meigs/Center and the rest of the district.

It's been Central and Meigs at the top of the rung the last few years. I'd like to see the other schools in the district improve to make it more interesting.

I feel Central is going to be tougher because Masingale will produce more points, which sometimes our girls struggled scoring.

Central had some good young girls on their team last year so they'll be better and stronger this year with age. By not playing AAU ball in the Spring and Summer, all teams will struggle a little early on.
I can't remember the other good 8th grader on Englewood's amazing team last year, but I heard she's at Walker Valley? Englewood should still be strong this year with the girls they have, especially with Masingale's little sister there as a 6th grader. The Baker girl is tough as nails and will be a force. Mountain View has some good 7th and 8th grade talent on their team too. Coach Morgan is in excellent shape for several more years.
Meigs Middle had a very good group of 8th graders last year, so they'll have a good freshmen group at the high school.

I think Howard will be the only freshman that will see playing time, they will need help in the post, and she’s very athletic and can give them some minutes, I also think Lawson will play a lot coming of the bench to give the guards a break, after that it’s a question of who steps up.

Morgan is a great coach. He knows Masingale needs to be on the floor right away with how much they struggled scoring last year. Have heard this girl could be better than Jacobi Lynn (signed with UTC) was as a freshman.

No way, are you kidding me?

Not saying I believe it. I haven’t seen her play yet. But that’s what someone really close to the Central girls basketball program has told me. This person has also told me that UTC has already reached out to her.

Well if you've never seen it or you don't believe it then why say it. Going off  just hear say!! Are you a TRUMP supporter too. I guess next UConn is wanting her. Hasn't even played a high school game yet. Really??

This is a message board. Rumors and opinions are what fill this board. Have a nice day.

Doesn't matter what anyone has to say, she can flat out play.  Difference in her and Jacobi is, she is taller.

Not sure why he got all defensive. I think he’s a Meigs fan but doesn’t wanna believe this girl will be the best player in the district.

With the new classification set to come out with 4 main classifications

I say Fulton wins Both Gold Balls in whatever class they are in

If they remain in AA they win both

If not in AA probably some other Knoxville Team

East Tennessee is winning Both

with the new classification and all its difficult to call, there are loads of possible winners

Could also be Carter, AE, Gibbs, Unicoi County, Anderson County, Union County, Greeneville, etc...

Are you saying that Fulton is going to win the gold ball in 2A girls?

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
