Rumor is some bigger and unexpected local names applied.  Strongest 4A program in the state over the past decade so only to be expected.  I’d be surprised if they just hired within.

OK. playing devil's advocate here:

Who outside of Elizabethton is a "bigger' name among local head coaches?

I'll hang up and wait for your answer.

If Greeneville wanted to hire someone from outside the program, which I doubt will happen this late in the game, there’s an awfully good young HC at a 5a school nearby that I’d hire in a heartbeat. I’ll let everyone figure out who I’m referring to. Trust me, if Greeneville called he’d listen.

I was sure it would be Butch Jones.....   oh well...

Butchie Boy didn't use his best cliches during his interview and that cost him the job.

And if what I am hearing turns out to be accurate Greeneville is making a great choice.

Elated that my good friend, Eddie Spradlen, was promoted to the head coaching position this morning.  Eddie is a class act and a very good football coach.  He'll do well in his new role, IMO.

It's ironic that his first game, which I believe will be in the spring (I see football being moved to spring and baseball/soccer/track to the fall as the best option for the TSSAA at this point) would be at home against his alma mater, Powell.
