Recommended Posts

Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto has declared a State of Emergency for the county effective and is requiring all residents to wear a mask in public the death total from COVID-19 in the county increased from eight to 15 in the past two weeks.

The first one of you chowder heads that say its ok its the dead period needs to self select and go play in traffic.

How does this affect football? Businesses and stores will be required to have masks...football is played outdoors. Should be business as usual after the dead period for outdoor practice. Additionally, this too shall pass and won’t be an issue for too long.

The story has now been rescinded because the mayor’s quote was that he did not have the authority to require masks but could only highly recommend them. Some news organizations ran the mask mandate headline which turned out to be false. Another example of the media’s rush to post a catchy headline for click bait, when in fact we are in basically the same position we were in before the story. It’s a personal responsibility decision as always.

We are going to get a lot more cases in TN it will surprise me if we have a season. I was told one of the options in Clinton for students is to stay in 1 classroom all day and wear mask and teachers rotate classes.

Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said the Unified Command Group, which oversees the state’s ongoing coronavirus response efforts, identified Wilson and Hamblen counties as new COVID-19 hot spots because of a rise in virus cases and deaths.

It's not the masks its the fact that the county has been designated as a hot spot and may impact Wilson County Athletics due to a risk avoidance mentality.  Shelby County took it one step further and regressed back to Phase 1 business plan model.

It is best to approach this as a macro issue and not just football.  The players interact throughout the community.  We saw 2 programs in Middle Tennessee last week report players and one coach testing positive.  (I know what is the big deal it is the dead period) Yes they practice outdoor and play outdoor but they don't go to Wal-Mart outdoor or walk around in a bubble isolated from the population.

As a fan I am encouraged by everyone's optimism, as a coach I am pessimistic that things will be back to normal when school starts.

The Dallas Superintendent of Schools said it is unlikely Texas will play a high school football season. Texas! High School football is LARGE, REAL LARGE in Texas. Another source however said they would  play this year.

A source is a source of course of course
And no one can talk to a source of course.
That is of course unless the source
Is the famous Mister Ed!
Go right to the source and ask the source.
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse
He's always on a steady course.
Talk to Mister Ed!
