COVID-19 2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON

Recommended Posts

Are we still arguing about wearing masks and how effective they are? Isn't that a moot point?

The point being that people are not going to comply regardless. One sneeze and everything is compromised.

So... do we-

A. Put non-compliers in jail?

B. Go into full national quarantine and shut America down?

C. Realize that we are taking a risk when we go into public and take our own necessary precautions?

D.  Be more compassionate to each other, sing kumbaya, while masked up with rubber gloves, and it will just go away after the election?

It was great to watch the games and I  know the kids loved every minute.I agree with the article, especially with the last couple of paragraphs. It looked as I said before that the people in Elizabethton tried to do it right. That's the best way to make the end result much more positive. If you get schools that let thousands into their stadiums with hundreds of folks not being smart. That's the ones who might ruin it for everyone. I don't see a difference with a crowd being at a super market, sports event, church, protest , political event, school or anywhere. You can try and take care of your part or not, in my opinion, that's going to decide the rest of this year .

A - No

B - No

C - Yes, but hope those that feel like they are not at risk still take precautions out of their compansion for their fellow man and realize it's such an easy thing to do that it's not worth arguing about.  I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to be sealed up with N95s but a cheap surgical mask will make a big difference.

D - More compassion and less division or silly things would be great

If you go to a game do what guidelines they have if you stay at home that's your choice. Quit complaining what others do stay in your bubble and live your miserable life's the way you want. That is what America is it's called freedom.

What if the posted requirements are to wear a mask and as a citizen of the United States of America, I decide that I don't want to and the constitution doesn't say I have to.  Then do I break the rules and go in maskless?  Who is going to stop me?  Who cares what kind of example this sets for the young people, to disregard rules and laws.  When THEY end up in jail someday for drunk and disorderly, wife beating, etc, I can always claim selective amnesia and spout "it ain't my fault!!  that ain't how I raised Junior!!"

The point I was trying to make do what guidelines the game being played has and what happens will be. Don't set at home and criticize other people for living out their life. For most seniors out there this will be the last time they will play organized football let them have their games they have been playing it since they were little and they have the option if they want to be there or if they don't want to be there.

So, if a place has a sign up that mask wearing is required, whether that is a doctor's office or Home Depot or a ball game.... then common sense and common decency would win out and people would do so or not enter said premises.  Right?  And people wouldn't whine and cry over wearing a mask for a few months to a few places and they could stop making bogus disingenuous arguments about "masks = socialism" or "I'm a real American, I don't have to" or "Jesus didn't wear a mask, so I ain't gonna neither" or "masks are a plot against whites and Christians" or "today's it's masks... tomorrow they will take away our guns" or etc etc etc etc

Some on here have been saying cancel the games I'm just saying go to games do what they ask and live life. Just don't set at home criticizing people for going out and enjoying something while whoever would set home miserable wanting everyone else miserable.

I attended our road game Friday night and folks were allowed to enter the gate without wearing any masks.   Of course, they did check everyone's temperature before entering.  It seems to me some of these regulations that are in place are not gonna be enforced. Maybe they want to keep away from any confrontation that may or could arise I guess. Which is sad in my opinion.  IDK.   I wish everyone would take it upon themselves to follow what is in place and for the life of me I can't understand why some of you think it's such a big deal.   I for one want these kids to have their moment in the sun and have their season.  My advice is comply with what is in place or stay at home. Simple as that.  This ain't about you or me individually. It's about all of us together.  It's about these kids.  It's about them being able to play the sport they love in front of their families, friends and communities.  There's a reason these regulations are in place.  So we could possibly have a safer way to enjoy some normalcy and enjoy watching these kids play.

I'll finish my thoughts with this:  If the TSSAA cancels these kids season because of non compliance of their regulations then I'm gonna blame some of the people in this room.  And then, I do not forgive.
