is there a similar petition at West High?

Not a petition, but Knox County schools doing it anyway.

My wife is a Knoxville West grad.  She's gotten nothing in the way of correspondence either for or against it.

But it's irrelevant.  Knox County is quick to remind the citizens that they are not community schools, but rather Knox County schools, so opinion of other than the school board, superintendent, and powers that be in central office don't mean a tinkers da*n any longer.

Our elected leaders are weaklings. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone with any backbone at all. You can take an angry mod of 100 screaming idiots with signs to the steps of any city hall in this country and the so called leaders will side with the 100 screaming idiots every single time. I don't know what we'll call it, a civil war or what ever but if this madness continues in a years time it's going to break out. We're within a hair of losing all police protection. For the past 10 years I haven't been able to figure out why everybody was buying so many guns and so much ammunition. I even did the same thing not knowing why I was doing it. It's like people knew it was coming but they didn't know what. Now we know.

No I don't have a clue, nor am I offended by it, so I say this with respect I will not be looking up the history of it.

Red I have one question if Aj Davis came up to you personally an said he was offended by it would you tell him the same exact thing you told me that he isn't too bright. Your argument against me is for nothing TALK TO THE STUDENTS, hear their voice.

Your name is "STAR BRIGHT" it was a play on words, You are so "dim"! See, I did it again.

I live here and work here. I've talked to a lot of people who know that Coach Bailey played a NON-TSSAA schedule in 1935 to get back at the TSSAA. All the teams were out of state or if in state, non-TSSAA members. This was rebellious. The name stuck.

I've talked with Tee's dad, Davon Kimble and Coach Upton. I have not spoken to AJ.

Most of the students who are so triggered are little white girls who went to Belmont and graduated from MHS between 2010-2014. There is a former heroin addict who is also leading the charge.

We have gone from the Maryville petition to civil war to slandering someone's character. Also. touched on include brainwashing, Japan / US relations, Communism / Socialism, my biography, stupidity, West REBELS, my grandmother's secret nana puddin' recipe, Biden / trump, facts vs opinions ( we failed the test for Fact and Opinion :thumb: ), which came first the chicken salad or the egg salad and a million other off topic subjects.

Now, we can continue down this road or we could get back to discussing the facts around the petition. I signed and still think Maryville should keep the name "Rebels."  :popcorneater:

Anyone agree?

Red rebel on this particular subject I am standing lock arms with the murvil faithful in saying  the name red rebel isn't offensive. Black, white, Asian or whatever nationality I just don't see how anyone can get offended by it. Honestly when I first seen this thread I said no way it makes it to page 3 before being shutdown. I was wrong none of the posters on coacht is offended because it's not.

Red rebel if you have 3 kids, a wife and a Nike poster in your household and everyone in your home was okay with the poster besides 1 of your kids was offended because Nike supported Kaepernick for kneeling, then you would have a tough decision to make. And that's all I was saying if there's a real outcry at the school over the name with white students and black then that's a decision as a community that maybe yall need to sit down an discuss an come up with a solution.

Waco....bend over, remove the Maryville Petition out of your bottom and smoke it. This thread is about the specific details about the petitions to change their nickname from Rebels. That was the main theme my post was trying to point out. You just go right along spewing opinions on off topic ideas. These boards are ALL ABOUT YOU anyway. You probably would call that a fact :roflolk: :thumb:

Now, I will show you how to respond on the specifics of this thread....I have signed the petition for Maryville to keep the Rebel name. My reason is I have never seen a Maryville fan on CoachT make a reference to their nickname Rebels and tying it to the Confederacy.

I am totally lit for the OR vs DB game now. GRIND   RWR!

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
