The TSSAA Board of Control Decided NOTHING Today

Listening to this weeks meeting, It seemed TSSAA didn't want anything to do with any decision making whatsoever. From what I gathered from the meeting its 100% up to the Governor and the rest will fall in line either way.

Yeah they couldn’t get out of the meeting fast enough. I believe you are right. The only hope is that Fulmer and Pruitt gets in the governor’s ear because it does college football no good with HS players setting out. I have 0 confidence in TSSAA.

Lets just go ahead and face what is going to happen. There will be no high school football this fall in Tennessee. We can blame whoever at the end of the day there is no logical way any sports are happening. Several counties have seen huge rises in cases and some are even going back to Phase 1 of reopening. I want to play more than anyone but there is no way football is going to be played, especially since school will not be in person. Lots of rumors and talk about starting school hybrid style but there is way to much risk and fear for people to do anything.

I say sign a waiver and lets play and if you are not comfortable then stay at home. But unfortunately it is not up to us. Hate it for the Seniors and kids looking to get scholarships. Perhaps club teams will start up, who knows what will happen in the absence.

I really don’t have much to say about this. I hate for the kids that will miss out on their senior year and all the underclass men/ cheerleaders/ band members, and all the rest of fall sports if nothing is played.

for UT to play I believe hs kids get a fair shot at it. I’m with @pioneer42the colleges need to get in a ear and let them know

Kid or teacher gets the virus, everyone at school they have came in contact with will have to be quarantined. Kid gets it on a sport team, all the teammates will have to be quarantined for what 14 days? That is two weeks worth of football games and much more of other games. Not sure how testing everyone is going to go. I think the people that will be making decisions are scared to death of liability and what not. To many questions that need to be answered and the easy decision for them would be cancelling athletics and in person school. I think its completely dumb but they have let us down from the get go. Like I said, I want sports as bad as anyone but depending on the Governor and TSSAA isn't providing an easy feeling.

You must have slept the last two days. Their was a special report from the pandemic team today this morning. School is being pushed from the top as it should as should sports. School is happening in TN. The governor even said that in his news conference last week.

I don’t know what is happening but I hope some powerful people are in his ear. I am making a call to Fulmer tommorow. Don’t know if I get in touch but I am making a run at it.

Well they got stimilus for paycheck protection so someone is getting paid.

The T$$AA has employees. The Board  members are not employees of the T$$AA. Principals are paid by the state and their local school district in the form of salaries. Not defending their actions today. Just saying.

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
    • This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
