Senior QB should be good. I don't think a returning player had a single catch last year though.

Running backs are a question mark. Best back up last year was a freshman.  Hard to say with no JV season in 2019, no spring scrimmage, and no preseason scrimmage/practices. Some younger brothers of some good players coming up but lots of unknowns.

Key returners per Donovan Stewart:

Max Kirby (QB/DB, sr.), Noah Hill (OL/LB, sr.), Tayton Swift (Rb,So.), Aden Freeman (Rb,Sr.), Joseph Whitaker (Rb,sr.), Micah McClendon (Rb,So) (maybe younger brother of Nick?) Braden Bowyer (OL/DL, Jr.),  McCalister Wilson (TE/OLB, Jr.)

I think Kirby has a big year for you guys if he can find a favorite target.   I liked how he threw the ball watching you guys last year.

Kirby and Hill are proven. The others get their chance this year. I have no idea who will be his targets.  Going back through the stats we have two catches for 16 yards returning this season. Returning running backs accounted for about 600 yards rushing last season out of the teams 3100 yards. This junior class was supposed to be our next great class, they beat Marshall County in middle school, but 5-6 of their best players are no longer in the program. The freshman and sophomore classes had two of our worst middle school records over the prior 10-15 years.

difficult to have targets when u dont throw and our only pass play is a bootleg that takes a "covered wagon" amount of time to develop

My prediction would be Eagleville to win this region followed by Lewis County. Then flip a coin with Forrest and Summertown for 3-4. Loretto has a coaching change and Community is just low on talent but seems to be getting better.

Very likely prediction. Equally likely any of the 4 end up in any of the 4 spots. Tiebreakers deciding the region places wouldn't surprise me. Any of the four can beat each other. Very balanced region.

I'll take Lewis. They are a step ahead of most R5 teams and this goes back to before they were even in the same region with Eagleville, Forrest etc.

1. Lewis. 2. Eagleville/Forrest winner 3. Best remaining of Eagleville/Forrest/Summertown 4. Whoever is left from those 3.

Salem is right. Forrest could get off to a 3-0 start or an 0-3 start

2020 a huge year for Eli. his first year he went 5-5 regular season and dropped his first playoff game, a closer than expected loss at #1 seed Waverly first round. last year he had all world talent. in his third year there is a dropoff but they still have some talent. can he put the best players in position to win? can he make adjustments? just how good a coach actually is he

    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
