If something were to change with the decision makers, who would the metro teams play? A lot of the non metro schools have moved on with their schedules.

PC schedule is pretty much all metro teams, with the exception of Independence & Giles County. But Giles is a region game so PC schedule is set. We just need to hear its go time!!!

Metro schools are practicing (if it can be called that) for no reason. Metro will not have football this fall. Metro will not even consider sports until students are in school at least on hybrid schedule. That has basically been the plan all along with being in school after Labor day.The first game then was going to be Sept. 25. Now that the earliest for school is October after fall break. Metro coaches should be told that playing this fall is not an option. Maybe they hope it will change but only when students are back in school.

It's sad to see both Memphis (Shelby County) and Nashville Metro schools not playing football so far. I hate to see them having to sit out while our schools in the "rural" counties are playing football successfully. This is a strange situation with Covid-19 and with apparent political decisions regarding sports.

The TSSAA is going to have fun figuring this out when it's playoff time.

I like HS ball....went to my first game last night.  It was great until the lightning.  Since it was available, I had the right to purchase tickets and attend.  But, as someone who has had to work with budgets and risk assessment/management, I see why metro has this stand.  I don’t know the number, but let’s say 13 teams combine for 400 kids wanting to play. 399 may have no issue, but that one does: lawsuit.  20 or more- class action case.  If we don’t like the proposed 34% property tax discussion, wait until this is added.

I had the right to go to the game last night.

Little Jimmy’s parents will have the right to sue.  Even if the virus was contracted elsewhere, the legal costs, investigations, etc. would pile up.

And before I’m lit up on this forum, I am coming from a business point of view and not Fox or CNN.

It is very easy to arm-chair QB when it’s not you on the line.

Wait, You said you like HS ball......and you just went to your first game Friday night? I'm not buying that. I'd like to know what company you did budget and risk assessment work for. And how long it took them to go bankrupt after you started.

Just my opinion, but I can't see metro just saying no sports without trying anything. At least try no fans in attendance, before making that life changing decision to these kids. But 2020 as a whole been different, so I wouldn't be surprised.

It would be very tough to play with no fans. Football attendance funds your whole athletic budget. IMO, the TSSAA (the GHSA too, for that matter) should have called the shots, instead of leaving it up to the individual school systems.

I’ve learned in life some leaders avoid making those tough decisions, so the blame can’t be placed on them.

This is actually the best time for these teams to play. While  the students are Online, they are not crammed into school Buildings with hundreds to even thousands of potential carriers. To me, it would be easier to keep the kids safe right now.... The staffs have protocols for these workouts. They just need to carry them over to real practices and games.
They need a voice in the within the district that is not there for personal gains and not simply a yes man.

First HS game of the season.  Davidson county had a no game mandate.  Won't mention my company but my dividend checks suggest that they are doing well....:roflolk:

A dividend check is a dollar amount that is paid to stockholders when the company makes money.

I won't be going back and forth with you on this stuff.....reading your posts that is your thing...not mine.

I agree that TSSAA should be calling all shots.

TSSAA did call the shot. They said "PLAY BALL" , and Shelby County/Metro Nashville said "no thank you".

The largest two systems in the state thought that they'd set a precedent that TSSAA would be pressured to follow, but the TSSAA (along with Gov. Lee's support) withstood and proceeded with the season. Large amount of egg on the faces of the politically motivated naysayers, and it could (should) get much worse. No reason not to play at this point, as the rest of the state is putting forth a working example. Pull the plug at this point and it's ridiculously obvious that safety isn't the primary goal.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
