"The TSSAA has been in contact with the administration at Powell High School this week regarding its football program.

 

A spokesperson from the TSSAA confirmed Wednesday afternoon that “information has been submitted to our office regarding potential TSSAA rule violations. We are in communication with the administration of the school.”

This does NOT mean Powell is guilty of anything — only that the the TSSAA is investigating the legitimacy of what was sent.

5Star Preps messaged Powell athletics director Chad Smith and head football coach Matt Lowe on Wednesday afternoon to open the line of communication should they want to make a statement.

Smith relayed the following at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

“I was contacted by two schools last week who made accusations of inappropriate contact between a Powell High School assistant football coach and players on their team. The alleged incidents of contact occurred immediately following Powell High School football victories. Neither school was able to provide concrete evidence of the allegations, other than verbal statements provided by their own players. Though the incident is pure hearsay, we did thoroughly investigate the allegations internally. We took statements from all identified parties, and based upon those findings, the situation was treated as purely circumstantial. We wish both of the schools who made the allegations the best of luck in this week’s football games.”

Multiple sources, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed this week to 5Star Preps the allegations that Smith addressed."

They were cleared by TSSAA, but it sounded like pretty tense relations.

IMO Powell needs to stick with what got them here.  Passing the ball is there strong suit for sure!  Hopefully they experimenting is over and they put the foot on the gas going forward.  To talented at the WR and QB.  Can't wait till the games are almost out of hand to start turning it loose, and expecting your Sophomore WR's and QB to save the day.  Start the game out fast and air it out!  IMO

Pops probably gonna have to look for a new situation for the Kid. I really don’t think you are going to get what you are wishing for and you can’t live and die by it. Gotta be able to run the football.
