How many basketball Champions were crowned last spring?  None in the public sector.  If team does not get to the championship game, remaining teams became semi-finalist.  If there is a game for the Championship in football this fall, someone will win it.  If a team has to drop out, then the other team not effected should win state.  If there is not a game, then they are semi-finalist at best.

You said it. I think the bottom line was to get football started to get some money but since the fall break for a lot of schools this pandemic has picked up like a California forest fire. I'm prepared for the cancellation for the playoffs at any moment and we'll be arguing for the rest of our lives who was the best team in 2020. For the rest of the sports I seriously doubt they will even get a chance to play.

I don’t know a kid in West TN that has been seriously ill from Covid. Where are you getting this info?? TSSAA don’t make money unless they play playoffs. They are not stopping now.

Wouldn't it be feasible to have the championship game on 12/12 or 12/19 if there's a positive since the state championship games are the last ones anyway? Tech doesn't play until 2021.

I had hoped that they would do that before the season to build in extra weeks before the playoffs to get games played. They made their decision to keep it as is and I can’t say it surprised me. They are a very status quo organization that does not like to adjust or change much of anything. Not a lot of vision or forward thinking unfortunately.

Things are getting worse far as rise in numbers are concerned. It will be a bunch of school systems that will pull out not the TSSAA leaving them with a very hard situation to figure out week by week.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
