Technically it would begin when the swab was taken**

This is correct.. Contact Tracing 48 hours prior to symptoms, or test (if asymptomatic) if this kid was tested Tuesday, then contact tracing would start on Sunday. They have already said he was at practice Monday and Tuesday. So anyone he was close to would be quarantined. Almost guaranteed his position group would get quarantined at least.

The DB athletic director said the Sullivan County Health Dept. made the call on cancelling the game. First time I've heard a definite word on who actually called it. Then he said "we have to collect all our information, all our data and send it to the TSSAA" and they will make a decision on Monday. That's a confusing statement. What information would DB have? Almost sounds like DB is the team with the Covid problem. So at this point we know the Sullivan County Health Dept. made the call, and we know McMinn had a Covid problem of some sort. Yet the TSSAA can't make a decision and DB has to send information and data to the TSSAA on Monday. As a DB fan I'm not liking what's cooking in the kitchen.

So my question is this. How did the Sullivan County Health Department know that a player on McMinn County had tested positive if the player didn’t get tested Sullivan County Health department. That is what I’m not understanding

No one really has any idea how many will show up at West Ridge.  The school is located so badly that it would not be a surprise if 75% of the enrollment of one of the 3 high schools being consolidated elects to go elsewhere.  There are also over 300 Kingsport city residents currently going to the county schools that are being consolidated that could elect to go to Dobyns-Bennett if they wish.  The numbers might indeed be 5A, no way to know until the doors open.

600 are missing.

Meant that where DB is located, Sullivan County, has their own health dept.  C'mon man, thought you would understand.

I knew what you were sayin'. Was just giving you a hard time. On the other thread after typing in McMinn Co. 150 times I accidently typed McMinnville in one post and everybody went crazy. Those word police are always watching.

I’m going to add my 2 cents and yeah I know it’s probably not worth a hill of beans.   I wasn’t there when who ever made the decision and the only info I have is from the threads, newspaper, and radio.  If MC is in the clear and the Sullivan County health department did what they did out of precaution then the TSSAA should let them play the game.  The punishment for this debacle should be to let them play on Tuesday and whoever wins will just have to suck it up due to not having the regular amount of time to prepare for the next opponent.  Really the punishment is not having the time to prepare, but at least you could probably say the TSSAA is trying to be fair and gave the opportunity.  I hate it for those young kids who all deserve an opportunity to play.

Sounds DB just didn't want to play McMinn. This was handled wrong.

Yeah I’m sure DB was trying their hardest to get out of this game. This 1 dimensional McMinn County team is scarier than any Maryville team I’ve ever seen. Our run defense is so bad they would’ve probably ran for 500 yards on us.

    • I lived through the Hammontree era with my sons. His 10 year tenure at Heritage was way too long. That is the most hard headed, egotistical man I have ever met. He ridiculed players and degraded repeatedly. He ran off some good young coaches that loved Heritage but couldn’t work for him. I do know what I’m talking about and it’s not hearsay, I lived it.
    • HVA is a dump and will never be good at football. It's a baseball school. Look at the types of homes being built and families moving in. Not football families. People will move in and look at the school and choose to play for another program. This issue has been snow balling for a decade now
    • Also no shot at an indoor facility it took ya'll almost a decade just to turf blankenship
    • You will not be able to replace Dozier he was a stud and wasted for years. Heyward started strong and then fell of but he will be missed still Rembert could fly and was also underused. Not being replaced. Track has started to close the gap with football. It does not help that the current AD is just stealing money(collecting his check) while the assistant AD is a XC/Track guy who always hated football. Current AD is too worried about not hurting anyone's feelings to do anything at all. Heck he is gotta be 70 plus and looks like a fool wearing kid shoes
