DB Didn’t want to play Friday night McMinn want to play. Haidet for the kids but you have give the Win to McMinn.

Except there seems to be some evidence that it wasn’t a DB’s decision not to play. And it was McMinn who showed up with a covid issue. Aside from the kid who tested positive earlier in the week, how many players did he practice with on Monday? I don’t see McMinn advancing here.

I think “fault “ is a strong word. Covid isn’t the fault of either team. I think it’s more so who’s “issue” the situation was. No, it wasn’t mcminns fault, but it was their issue. DB has no fault either AND the issue wasn’t on their end. Hence it’s hard to reach a conclusion that DB doesn’t advance unless it’s a no contest or by some miracle they will play the game and that seems unlikely.

and we can go back and forth with different words all day. End of the day, the game needs to be played, 6a brackets go on hold for a week (or they all could go on hold for a week) and lets find out.

Can they go on hold tho? I thought that earlier in the season, talk of moving the blue cross bowl games was considered not feasible because of the timing, staff available and contracts in place for the specific weekend it’s scheduled for, that basically it couldn’t be moved. If it could then I think that *could* be an option. McMinn may be down a few players tho if it’s determined that a portion of their team was exposed to a positive teammate and is/was supposed to quarantine for 14 days.

To that point, every other team is fighting this thing as well. Cases are rising everywhere. It's a race against time at this point. Delaying an additional week could mean no state championships for several classifications. Don't think it's fair to those classifications to have to wait on 6A to catch up. 6A is already playing on Saturday for championship week, shouldn't be a huge disruption.

Maybe the T$$AA will just fedex participation trophies to all schools this year and wash their hands of it....

The longer the wait, the higher the likelihood that they'll drop some bad news at the end of the business day and let the answering machines take the calls. Conflict Resolution 101 in the TSSAA handbook.

Yeah if we haven’t heard by now, definitely rule out playing today.

So only 3 scenarios left:

1. Play the game tomorrow.

2. DB receives a COVID win and advances.

3. No contest and Maryville gets a Quarterfinal Bye.

    • If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
    • The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
    • Yeah it will take the county kids in that area that were going to lenior city. They will move down to 4a I think
