Now...as for Haywood....you know what I didn’t see in those kids? Quit. They NEVER gave up. You know what i did see? Great sportsmanship. It was so awesome to see, both teams really, helping each other up, acknowledging good plays, and just having a mutual respect for each other. Coach Chris is doing a great job with these young men. And after the horrific situations with Covid they have been through, it hurt me to see them hurting. Please let them know, Cyclone Nation will be praying for them and their families and they have our respect and brotherly love. It’s always a pleasure playing against great kids, from great communities, because of great coaches and families. Respect.......

Thanks for those kind words. Betsy u guys are the real deal.

I don’t like talking smack before games. Or after. But, I gotta say my Cyclones rule 4A! I’m so proud of those young men for digging deep, playing unselfish ball, hard work in the gym, being students of the game, and playing with a passion for their community, the sport and each other. So proud to be a Cyclone. Hats off to a GREAT senior class! Thanks for taking great care of Cyclone Nation!

Nice posts, and thanks for your kind words about Haywood.  I don't like talking smack either!

I wasn't at the game, but I watched the videostream.  Everything I saw portrayed Elizabethton as a class act.  Congratulations Cyclones!  Congratulations Tomcats!  Both teams represented their schools and communities well.  Good luck to both teams in the future.

I am back only to praise the Cyclones. In over 40 years of being on the sidelines every Friday night, they executed as well as any team I have ever seen and were a very disciplined, well oiled machine on both sides of the ball. They are well coached and have some really great players. Thanks for showing Haywood what the bar is and what it will take to win a state title of their own some day. I respect your team and they were no doubt the best team. I am still proud of Haywood and all they overcame this year. Now we need to update facilities, keep our coaches, work harder and get back.

Do you think  Elizabethton can repeat next year? Young O linemen but have Rollins Russell Nate Jake and the D line back

While most people are counting on this run to end next year,  we still have a lot of momentum.  We also have a lot of talent coming back next year,  talent that knows what it takes to win a title.

Greeneville has talent. And it was young and gave us all we wanted.
Betsy Defense looses safety, corner, and two linebackers. Staff have been great at evaluating talent and moving people where they can contribute most. Loosing Maupin seemed hard to overcome. They figured that out. Loosing Parker feels the same. They will figure it out. O-Line is where we MUST pick up the slack.

But, who knows. Maybe a few more kids outside the program see the opportunity for a gold ball and come over? Maybe some kids feel like moving to 6A ball isn’t for them, or want a shot at what we got? Once a program starts winning, things happen. You see it all over. Only time will tell. All speculation now. But, as fans, isn’t that the fun of it!?!

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
