this thread has been stating that.  What is the challenge for Alcoa to continue to beat up on 3A teams?  Why won't they step up to the plate (move up to 6A) and see if they are the best team in the state?

The problem is the TSSAA won't let you jump more than 1 class.  Alcoa will always be 3a or 4a (Possibly 5a if student population moves them up to 4a and they choose to move to 5a).  The new school they built will hold 1,000 students from the previous 600 at the old school.  They currently have less than 700 in the school.

You are absolutely correct Swipes. Most people don’t understand the tssaa will only allow them to move up 1 class.

but they won't even do that

They don’t now. When we went to the six class system in 2009 Alcoa had a 2A enrollment. They elected to play up in 3A and did so for 8 consecutive years until 2017 when they finally crossed the threshold of 3A enrollment and have played there since. I just want to tell the whole story cause a lot of people act like Alcoa is scared to play up when they have done so more than 99% of the schools in TN over the last two decades.

I’m pretty sure they had 3a numbers prior to 2017. Several years before

Alcoa played Blackman, Maryville and Dobyns Bennett this year in non-region play.

Next year I know they have West, Maryville so far.....Tried to get Elizabethton and Greenville but not luck with that.

TSSAA will only let them move 1 classification. Last time they hinted they were playing in 4A, almost every 4A team moved to 5A ...Fulton was the best example but not the only one.

Probably.  Alcoa was around 450-500 in the old school. And above capacity at that school. First year at the new school, the enrollment increased to 600. The enrollment has steadied out around 650. Football rosters has decreased? Alcoa was around 85 in 2016- 2017. 2018 was right at 75. 2019, 68. 2020, 60.
