This brings up the old debate, does playing better teams make you better in the end?

This team struggled vs the worst team on the schedule.   We have a slim chance against the better teams and  we struggle vs the other bad teams.   We are just trying to win the last two conference games vs Karns and Campbell County, both of which have beat OR once in school's history.  This years coming up games vs Karns and CC are toss ups, I'm serious.

Nut, Cats could go 2-8, 3-7, or 4-6.  Is that good enough at Oak Ridge?  I guess it will depend on how the 2nd year principal views the situation once the season plays out.

Yippee, woo hoo!  Yeah!  We get to go to Greeneville.  Wooooo wooooooo!  C'mon man.  really?

C & G,  you never answered the question, Do you go to the games?

Hmmm...I must have missed that question.  I have been going to Oak Ridge games for over 50 years.  I haven't been to them all this year due to other obligations.  I've got a lot to say, but most of my color commentary would be censored.   LOL  I have the utmost confidence that the Wildcats will have a game on Friday.

RWR!

SS, I got a chance to watch the film from Friday night's game. The radio broadcasters couldn't slap enough lipstick on the pig that is the OR offense. I don't even know where to start, but obviously this is nothing new to the OR faithful. I don't think I've ever seen an OR offense look so inept, between all of the pre-snap penalties, the lack of creativity in the play calling, and the fact that Powell was in the backfield on 90% of the snaps. I assume that some coaching changes have to be coming this off-season, right?

Understand my frustration a tad bit now?

If you guys don’t have the linemen like you fellas say you don’t, is that really on the coaches as far as scheme and play calling? Serious question…

They certainly look the part. It's not like they have a bunch of undersized guys playing out of position. I'm not saying that should automatically make them competitive, but you can't teach those measurables. You can teach technique and work on lateral quickness, and I think some of that has to be on the coaching staff. Reminds me of some Powell teams from the late 90s. They had some big linemen who just couldn't block. Might as well put a bunch of orange cones out there.

I watched the film from Friday night's game, and OR's linemen were just getting beat to the point of attack on almost every single snap, which is something OR has struggled with all year. And even when they put a hat on a hat, they couldn't hold their blocks. Based on what I've seen, I think these kids just need to be developed appropriately.

Vil, this has been a problem at OR for years, it’s just more defined this season. We’ve had lackluster play there for years. In 2014 we had 3 or 4 massive linemen, they were soft as he$& in the run game too. This is nothing new.

This exactly.  Last sentence sums it up in Nut-shell.  See what I did there?

    • Began as a discussion, and evolved into a trainwreck...   Don't know how many of the TC "old guard" are left, but I feel for y'all.   Everybody has to get the last word... no matter the cost and sometimes the cost is high.
    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
