Just because a brentwood team that probably wouldn’t have been in the state game any other season doesn’t mean the game wasn’t always in cookeville.

Can hardly blame one for thinking that way. Oakland/Maryville have won the last 4 championships by a combined 177-61, over half of that is from this past title game.

This is gigantic and amazing news for the Ravenwood program. However, this is a much different scenario than when Hester took over in 2013 for the first time. Here’s why.

1. He’s now in charge of keeping the program at the elite level it’s been on since he was at the helm the first time. During his first Ravenwood tenure, the initial goal was just putting the program back on the map after the 8-22 previous several years. Beating Brentwood and winning a single district title seemed like monumental tasks, but Hester did both in year one. That defied anyone’s expectations outside the zip code RHS is in. He had his team in the state title game the next year and won the 6A championship the year after that.

2. Williamson County is no longer the red headed stepchild of Rutherford County. Back in 2013-15, Brentwood was down, Summit was still brand new, and Indy/Franklin/Centennial were decent. Now, Brentwood is rolling again, Summit just won state in 5A, Franklin and Indy will always be a threat, and Page and Nolensville are playing at high levels (albeit outside 6A). This will be the strongest county/region in the state in 2021.

That being said, Hester will have all the support of us here in Raptor nation. He’ll have the resources he needs to make trips to Cookeville. Expectations will be high, but there is no doubt he can have this program back to what it was in 14-15.

Very well said. The best region and definitely the best COACHED region

Spending time with his daughter but I wouldn’t read too much into that. Heard rumblings players didn’t like him too much and some other things I won’t put on the T.

I don't believe the first part because he is very much regarded as a players coach. I do believe you are right about the "other things"

Last four years sure, but where was oakland the the first 10 or so of 6a? stuck trying to get past maryville while the other half of the bracket was beating them every other year or so. Just because oakland finally got their stars aligned to beat maryville doesnt mean you can hop on the pony with them and claim their success.

Other half of the bracket didnt have to put Maryville down before reaching the championship either. Oakland has won 135 games in the 6A, which puts them right up there with anyone not named Maryville. We don't need to piggy back on nobody. There's not another team in 6A that has beaten Maryville more than once, Oakland has done it 4 times, so yeah we've earned the right to lump ourselves in with Maryville.

As for #2 you left out Hughes and Fairview.  They do a great job.

All good dudes as well
