So I’m a new poster to coach T, however I’ve been reading the forums since 2012 (my sr season with the cyclones) to keep up with the program in more detailed manner. How are things looking next year as far as depth, strengths , how many seniors are out the door, etc? I know with Hughes , Morton , and a good percentage of our O line leaving; we will have some big shoes to fill and may not have the luxury of having our trench warriors only play one way . I look forward to talking Betsy football with you guys on here!!

So yes, I’m new also but have been reading stuff for 8-10 years. Loosing the 3 linemen are tough to fill and Hughes is Hughes (MR Football). Too me Holly is a very tough position to fill! Receiver, DB, Kicker, and has held extra point and field goals for it feels like 10 seasons. He has great hands and can play everywhere he plays at a high level. I would say minute for minute he has been been on the field as much as Hughes. However the coaches find a way for the next man up to work! Everyone will work hard in the weight room and only get better! Cyclones Football is here to stay and stay STRONG!!!!

I suspect that you guys will be a contender again next year, but not near as good as this year's team.     Losing that much in the OL is huge, as evidenced by the Boone game a few months ago.   For those of you who don't know, Elizabethton was missing 3 OL for that game and came within a hair of losing to a very mediocre 5-5 Boone team.   If you nearly lost to Alcoa, DB, etc. then you could just chalk it up to playing such good competition, but nearly losing to Boone due to 3 guys being out should be a real wakeup call to the Elizabethton coaching staff.    But you have a whole off-season to get some other guys ready, so I wouldn't worry too much.

My man you’ve beat a dead horse with the Boone game for months now.  It’s over,  we won.  We’ve won so many in a row against Boone we are bound to have a close one every once in a while. This staff will have guys ready for next year and I’m sure it’ll be the same result against Daniel Boone.  Nobody is looking back at that game except for you.

Our record against you is 2-33.... pretty sad huh?    Yep next year will be no different.    Half the time I don't even go to the Betsy/Boone game anymore if DB or SH has a game in town that night.

Speaking only about NET in the first part.Elizabethton has for longer then anyone can remember had some fine athletes and teams.Nomatter what their records, they have always been tough on the football field. I expect nothing different next year. There will without doubt be folks say this team or that are the ones to beat. Batman says ," until someone beats the defending champs and puts them out of the playoffs ,Elizabethton is still the champions ".... There will be new teams in the west from what I'm hearing ,moving up and making that part of the state more competitive. You also just never know when a power  team from the Knoxville area or maybe even Alcoa down the road, will jump up or back down into 4a.So, for Elizabethton and Greeneville, it's make hay while the sun is shining the brightest and when the clouds move in, keep making hay and prove your also now  at the highest level on a yearly basis.

This team and staff will work just like they have been and this team will be fine. What’s funny is there is players that are already ready to start working for next year.Love Betsy football!!

It's a great time for all Betsy fans. Those few that are old enough to remember the first championship back in 1938 have to be very thankful for what the program has done these past couple of years. Those that are just kids today , might be Telling kids in the next century about the mighty back to back state championship teams of 2019-2020 . It will be just like 1938 is to many folks today, a completely different time, long ago before America was even in WW2.

Batman you have to soak it all up because as you know what this team has done the last couple years is very special and I for one have waited a long time for this moment and I am going to enjoy it for a while.

    • Ouch! If he's in the scrap business maybe
    • That's a nice story but has little to nothing to do with what we're talking about.
    • The winds of change are blowing in Hartsville.     Will be an interesting follow.    Would go back to the 90s and turn black the clock!
    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
