Its still a bold pick saying the number 2 220 is bumping up 50 pounds and winning heavyweight considering the field at 285 is not weak at all this year.

Go look at Cummins results from this year and you will understand, he has wrestled 285 at some tough tournaments and has won them, if you have not seen this kid wrestle he is an amazing athlete with the strength to handle heavyweights and the quickness to hit outside shots and duck unders. His dad told me he is wrestling heavyweight because all the college football coaches said they wanted him to gain weight so by bumping up he doesn't have to worry about watching his weight.

Shelton upsets Davis in my opinion

I really like Ryver, I think he is a good kid, but if you look at his results he does not do good in tightly contested matches, and has lost to a lot of people he shouldn't have because of this. Ashton always seems to find a way to win the tight matches that's why I would give him the edge in this match. I would love to see Ryver pull off the upset, but I certainly would not bet on it.

Not saying his prediction will play out but I do not think 285 is particularly strong this year.

I disagree. 4 returning medalists, then add in Ryan Smith from Summit, Sonny Watson from West, and McClure from Bradley. Its not the strongest weight class in the state but its most certainly not the weakest. There very well may be a previous state medalist miss the podium all together.

I understand the argument but returning medalists doesn’t necessarily make for a strong weight class.  There are solid wrestlers but not one or two dominant guys.  I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a good 220 lbs kid win or do well. If Davis went 285 I’d probably favor win to win it.

Again, I wholeheartedly disagree. There ARE one or two more dominant guys. They haven't wrestled this season and I expect to see them in the finals next weekend. But also, having 4 returning medalists in a weight class does make it a tough bracket.

Ashton will win 220. He’s beaten Shelton everytime theyve wrestled pretty easily. Todd has wrestled him tough because he stays away from him and has wrestled him smart. We can talk about the what if’s but Ashton has never lost to any of these guys. It ain’t gonna happen on the biggest stage. Lock in Cleveland for 3 champs with several other possibilities. Sucks we have to wait another week.

I agree. The matches against Todd were about as dominant a 1-0 match as you can have.  Strange things can happen but I think Ashton wins it again.  But that’s why they have the matches.

All I’m saying is he’s wrestled Shelton once
