If you think hitting someone blindsided is ok because of some words spoken then you need to seek help.

Words are words. Hitting a person when they're not looking can and does have lifelong damage.

Wow really? Can you read?  I believe I wrote it in black and white.

Totally the truth. Quit trying to hide the truth. It’s no secret McCord has a bad attitude and thinks he can do no wrong.

So the son admits that he did it and he admits that it wasn’t over things that were said during the week that lead up to the game between the DC staff and their players. Therefore, nothing was said to Shields. From my perspective there was no altercation or exchange of words at Arlington high school that night. The report says that Shields’ son, was caught on camera changing clothes to all black and shows him waiting for the DC crowd to leave. It is on record that it took the DC fans, players, and coaches over a half hour to leave the locker room and gym. This proves that it was premeditated. Also the report states that the son ran towards the DC group after they had walked outside so he was running at them from behind. No doubt in my mind that he did this and had bad intentions for hours maybe even days prior. Also in the police report it says that the tag number of the getaway car for the son was given to the authorities, and it came back as one of the Arlington players and several of them were identified as being at the scene and fleeing in this vehicle. You have to remember this was done with a group of around 30-40 people, so there were a lot of eye witnesses. You can spin this as much as you want, and it sucks that it happened and that the girls can take continue on, but Arlington needs to look at its leadership. This is the 2nd occurrence that had to do with fighting. Also Arlington was popped twice for playing 2 ineligible players. One from MS and one from a private school. Maybe Shields isn’t the answer and they need to part ways with her. That seems like the best play for AHS. I hate it for their girls though, but you have to lay the blame on their leadership.

Social media had nothing to do with it. The player standing up for Shields and getting kicked out of practice is a fact. That was a phone call to Shields not social media.  So how was it planned? How do you know it was planned?  It was fueled by McCord talking crap. Simple as that.  He got his butt handed to him on a silver player and got out coached.

Are you sure this is fact and not hearsay? I’m pretty sure that now that their season is over there is no practice, and if McCord is hurt as bad as everyone says with a concussion and all, I doubt he’s even at school.

McCord has not been at school since the assault. The player was not kicked out of practice the week before the game and played a great deal of the game. Who would kick a player out and then play them ?  Day after game was removed while administration investigated and looked at what happened.

Phone call was made just to see what the weather was going to be i guess.

You shouldn't be so shocked. TSSAA brings the hammer down hard on physical altercations. We were "involved" in an incident two years ago in the last regular season game... postseason immediately over without possibility of review. After the film was reviewed by TSSAA we were absolved of any and all responsibility for the incident even though some of our players participated in self defense. Although it was good to be exonerated, it took months for TSSAA to come to a conclusion and decide to appropriately (IMO) punish one school and not the other. People thought TSSAA might look the other way because the game was over... games are sanctioned events, and aren't concluded until everyone is off campus.

My shock was with other physical altercations in Shelby County they many times have been let off the hook and did not move fast.

Again your filthy mouth coach and so called christian man provoked this whole thing.  Unfortunately it caught up to him in a bad situation.

I'm no fan of McCord and I'm a DC alum. There are no words that a person can utter that prompts a blindsides attack.

You created a profile (or an alternate) just to argue this.

Words are words. Like I said previously, if you think something someone says deserves for them to be physically assautled then you need to seek help.

What is sad is that the Dyer County Head coach and assistants have always been allowed to act the way they do. The Head coach incites their fans, players, and everyone else, then steps back and plays the victim.  How noble. The administration at Dyer County needs to put clamps on him. He has acted like this for years with NO penalty, hence the reason their fans scream, cuss, berate others everywhere they go. Nobody condones what happened and it looks bad on Arlington because of where it was at, however, it could have happened anywhere and could not have happened to a better person. You ask any coach or fans they play how their fans and coaches act and you will get an honest answer. They are awful and represent their school in an awful way. It is sad he is allowed to act the way he does. Arlington has always ran  first class programs and to my knowledge, this is the first time I have ever heard of anything like this happening there. It happens to lots of teams that go to Dyer County.

I'm from that area went to school at DC for 4 years and played under Coach Butch Hopkins.

No one can deny that fans can be rude and coaches can insight this kind of stuff. I've been in a few situations as an oppoisng coach where the fans are rude and being silly just because and its harmless. I've also been in a few situations as a player and coach that were scary. I remember beating Ripley at Ripley my sopohomore year and we needed a police escort out of the gym and the bus was escorted by police to the highway. Then my first year coaching we played at Humboldt (2007-8), we got by 30+ and as we were leaving the halls were lined with people from Humboldt curising trying to intimidate us and our players. There were no admin or police around.

What looks bad on Arlington is that a physical attack happened on their campus to an opposing coach. From all accounts this wasn't a build up, mouthing back and forth, chest bumping altercation. This was a premeditated attack. That is not ok.

Arlington HS and the community of Arlington have a responsibilty to opposing teams to protect them. I've coached basketball in different places and umpired baseball (Shelby Co). There is a level of protection that has to be provided for visitors. At SCS games they have SCS security, and SC Sheriff deputies at all the games on my campus. I imagine Arlington HS/Community Schools will be sued by McCord for a few different things and he has a very good chance of winning from the information that is being provided.
