Loretto is definitely the favorite and will the number 1 team in the polls more than likely and deservingly. But   I have to admit that Summertown is a little ahead of where I thought they would be this early in the season. I am just enjoying the season and thankful to be playing.

100%.  They are definitely ahead of where I expected them to be at this point.  Even in games where their offense has struggled, they've still played fast & smart.

Don’t see Summertown holding it under 20 right now Loretto too experienced - maybe by end of year be more competitive

If you are talking the amount of TURNOVERS, I agree. Some nights, I'd settle for 20. EDIT: Hit the Quote button. It's your friend.

Loretto started off sluggish tonight, but picked things up a few minutes into the 2nd.  This team is the best I've ever seen at Loretto.  Fought through some early adversity and ended up beating a good 4A team by 40 at their place.  We had several girls around 10+ points, some globetrotter level passing, and a ton of grit.

Great game Ladies!

Good win. Going to take a solid performance to beat y’all. Can’t wait to go down and see the Summertown game.

Same here. Looking forward to it! Summertown had a good win tonight against our first opponent of the season, a reigning state champ from AL.

So many good teams out there this year!

One of the reasons Loretto has been successful this year is because of the team chemistry.  This team knows each other and the system they are coached to run.  Karly is the straw that stirs the drink, but anyone of the other 4 starters can score and this team has no problem with that.  There's no jealously on this team.  They just want the W and if you want to double down on Karly they'll find the open man and she will score.  All of our starters are about double digit scoring average.  This has been a joy to watch them play the game of basketball.   I do not want to discount the bench, because they don't just take up minutes, but they produce when on the floor.

Amazing what the Loretto’s, Summertown’s, Westview’s and Gibson County’s are doing year end year out with their programs. Hard to win the state and is a blessing when you do, but these four are pretty consistent of having a really good product on the floor. These four have been very consistent the last several years. Loretto will be a handful for a while looks like. Lots of talent there.

You are oh so right about these programs.  The amazing thing is 3 of them were 1-A last year and they have not missed a beat moving up to 2-A this year.  Good luck moving forward !

Same to you. Ashley is doing a great job with Loretto. Summertown hasn’t missed a beat either. Girls basketball is alive and well there for sure.

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
