Well apparently Catholic doesn't have the money they put on to have or they would have gotten Nix from Alcoa. This situation that just happened kind of reminds me of that small town sheriff about twenty years ago that made a private porn movie between him and the Mrs. and the wife accidently got it mixed in with the movies she was returning to the video store. The video store made a fortune making copies and renting that movie to everyone in town. Not much difference if you ask me so they better get the pocket books open if they want to cover the smell of this mess up.

Alcoa better dig deep if they want to keep Nix! Don't look like Rankin leaving any time soon. It would not surprise me....Nix find and take a head coahing job....and Rankin retire shortly after.....Alcoa would be screwed!

It may not all be about money. There have been several excellent candidates with head coaching experience.

I'm sure a lot of good coaches have shown interest. I would give anything to know what fell through on the Nix possibility and also would love to know what Rankins blood pressure reading was when he thought Nix  may go there and take the cream of the crop of coaches with him. I bet he was having a flashbacks of that 4th down call he made against Maryville and didn't make it and the whole game changed last year.

I think the Alcoa school system is dangling a pretty good carrot to keep him. IMO, He will take the Football Program too the next level when he is announced Head Coach. No doubt,  I'm a BIG fan!

I'm sure your right about that, Alcoa has a great support system behind it. For Nix to leave it could have only been for a private school that has the funds to lure away a coach like that. I know I joke about Rankin a lot on here but he is a great organizer getting the right men in the right places like Nix on defense and Sweetland on offense and the rest on down the line. I'm sure if Nix jumped ship a couple would have came with him leaving Alcoa in a very awkward situation. Not sure on how Nix retirement could have worked into the situation but the big risk is that you have to win at a place like Catholic or you end up like Scott Meadows very fast.

I honestly think the one of the big reasons Catholic had reservations was the fact he would head back to Alcoa if or when Rankin hangs it up.

I hate it for the kids at Catholic, but not surprised this happened. Always amazed me how Siegel was able to keep his dui quiet when it's a career ender for alot of coaches

With a nut job dad that would fight with other fans in the stands at a ballgame and eventually fight with the coach during a game might drive anyone to have a drink, wouldn't you say.
