It's never too early to look ahead. So that's why, mere days after National Signing Day for the Class of 2021, we are casting our eyes toward the future.

While high school seniors can still sign national letters of intent with colleges through the end of July, attention for major college football programs now turns to the Class of 2022. Currently juniors, these players won't have a chance to put pen to paper until early signing period next December.

In Palm Beach County, there are plenty of Class of 2022 recruits that are already turning heads. Here's the top 10 in the area, listed in alphabetical order. All recruiting rankings are from 247 Sports.

Brandyn Butler (American Heritage-Delray WR): Butler was one of the top wideouts on the top private school in Palm Beach County, accounting for 613 yards on 41 catches (14.9 yards per catch). He finished with six touchdowns, including two on punt returns.

Dezmond Penn (Atlantic OL): The interior lineman, who can play guard or center, was part of an Eagles offensive line that opened holes for an explosive running game. Behind that offensive line, quarterback Guenson Alexis was Lou Groza Player of the Year, and the Eagles won the tri-county Class 7A Gold championship.

Ja'Kavion Nonar (Glades Central OL): While he mostly played right guard for the Raiders, Nonar's frame — 6-foot-7, 280 pounds — projects as a tackle at the next level. Nonar also displayed solid pass-blocking skills and agility as the Raiders went 5-1.

Markel King (Park Vista Ath.): He's 5-foot-7, 170-pounds, but don't let his size fool you. King packs a punch, whether he's running over defenders or blocking on the outside, and has blazing speed. While his season was cut short due to COVID and injuries, King showcased his versatility, lining up in the backfield and slot.

Atlantic's Marquis Lymon (6) carries the ball during a Nov. 7 game against Tru Prep Academy at Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton.

Marquis Lymon (Atlantic DB): In an Atlantic secondary filled with ball hawks, Lymon might be the best one. A four-star recruit, Lymon has offers from Miami, Indiana, Tennessee, among others. In seven games this season, he had five interceptions and rushed for 400 yards on just 22 carries.

Matthew James (St. Andrew's Ath.): James picked up an LSU offer over the summer, and the 3-star recruit also has offers from Penn State and Georgia Tech. As a sophomore, James broke onto the scene with 10 interceptions. In five games this fall, he had 425 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.

American Heritage quarterback Dylan Rizk (10) hands the ball off to American Heritage running back Trey Rainey (22) during the second half of the game between American Heritage and Champagnat Catholic at American Heritage in Delray Beach, FL, on Friday, October 16, 2020. Final score, Champagnat Catholic, 33, American Heritage, 27.

Trey Rainey (American Heritage-Delray RB): The do-it-all tailback finished 800 yards of offense on 104 touches. His pass-blocking ability has also caught the eyes of colleges, including Holy Cross and several Ivy League schools (Brown, Dartmouth, Penn and Yale).

Vincent DuBose (Palm Beach Gardens LB): The hard-hitting inside linebacker averaged 8.3 tackles per game and had 19 tackles for a loss in seven games for the Class 8A Silver finalists.

Dwyer's Xavier Scott Jr. runs with the ball during a tri-county playoff game against Plantation on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 in Plantation.

Xavier Scott (Dwyer Ath.): A two-way standout for the Panthers this season, Scott recently picked up an offer from Florida Atlantic, and also holds an offer from Pittsburgh. Scott, also a starting guard on the Dwyer basketball team, had 469 all-purpose yards in five games and was a shutdown corner.

Zo'Marion Harper (Glades Central QB): The Raiders' signal-caller wasn't asked to lead game-winning drives often, but put up solid stats, throwing for 1,123 yards and 16 touchdowns in six games.
