Yeah it’s been quiet on here.  Hopefully things will ramp up soon!  Good luck!

It's really hard to be on top of the world one day and the next you feel like your sucking wind. One day their coming through the transfer portal from William Blount and the next your sending your best through the portal to Alcoa stocking their pond like their really needing the help over there. Then you have the new coach some say was hired before they even started looking because of the Maryville Connection between the coach and principal. The fans of Greenback put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the program to help out and I sure hope the new coach does well there and understands what he's getting into. When is this scrimmage and time with Meigs County.

Sounds like your in the know.Word in South Knox is same thing. Was told your Maryville Alum Principle wasn't even gonna entertain a Coach with Gteenback ties or Blood.VERY SAD IN MY OPINION.Over 60 applicants and you hire a coach who tanked at both stops and pulled SW to the bottom in 3 years, resigned from coaching and gets hired at one of the best 1A jobs in the State.Home cooking a recon. If he doesn't keep them in the hunt next year, from what I hear they will be very young this year. Then he needs to be ran out of Loudon ASAP!Don't let him ruin you all!!!!!Looking at his facebook he seems to be more interested in his looks than his coaching.GLAMOUR COACH.LOL!

Nothing to talk about till we see what kinda product we can put on the field. Not as excited as years past, losing a coach like Ryan and then picking up one who hasnt blown a whistle in 2 years dont give me a fuzzy feeling just yet.

Best of luck Cherokees!:thumb:

I know it won't be a true replacement............but, us GOON's will hold the best seat in the house if you want to watch some F5 football........." if" it happens to be "dry period" in GB.

I can’t say I know what that feeling is like.  I mean, I got it the 2 years we had an alum when Grider semi retired.  It’s not a great feeling.  Wish y’all the best.

My only thoughts was to even mustard out a win at Union County was an accomplishment in itself but I would feel at Sweetwater you would be able to find some decent athletes and be able to ride high in 2A with that in mind but never happened. Who knows the place might be in a bigger mess there then we know. My first job at Greenback as coach would be getting in contact with D.R. Horton and getting a couple hundred houses built just over the county line.

I have a feeling if he doesn't do well him and the principal will be in trouble. I cant believe  that this guy was the best they could find. It may be a long year. And hard to watch but i will still be there until i get run off for raising cain on the coach.

Sounds like this could be a remake of the Tom Cruse movie "All the Right Moves" where all the rowdy home team football fans went to the coaches house and tore up the place after a loss.

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
    • This is a great question. The retirement seemed a little premature. I do not know the coach personally, but I hope he has found what he is looking for. He is a fine Christian man with a lot of principle and morals about him. I wish him nothing but the best. There are some players in the box for the next coach. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
