What did Maryville Fans think of Alcoa's 4th and Forever Documentary.

It sad that so many adults cannot see the reality here. Do you really think Alcoa wrote this script? If you do, you are sadly mistaken. HBO wrote this script with their agenda imbedded. What has been our daily news for over three years? Racism. Racism. Racism!  HBO’s agenda will be much like all the other sports journalists; i.e. ESPN.  Black school vs white privilege (their view, not mine).

If you think Alcoa wrote this and guided this agenda then you are blind to the Liberal agenda in this country. HBO’s program outline and story board was black school playing white school whose mascot just happens to be the Rebels.  Otherwise, HBO would have never made this documentary.

Bottom line: They are trying to separate our communities like the rest of nation.  HBO walked into Alcoa with an agenda; white vs black.  That gets clicks and sells subscriptions today. Are there issues? Absolutely. But none worth destroying these two communities over.

Please. Stop now and refocus your anger on HBO.

Its a real shame that once that narrative gets out there it can stay out there. Sure must be frustrating for MHS to not have a say in how they were portrayed.

Wisdom from a fellow Friendsville Falcon.

I wish they would have shown more good stories. The kids that go to church together. The kids that play pickup ball in the park together. When Alcoa beat us in 2019 the first kid I hugged was a big ole Alcoa lineman that I had spent a week with in the SC sun,  roofing the house of a grandmother raising her two grandsons on a fixed income on James Island. He was leaving after the season to join the USAF. There were so many good stories left on the table, but like Scots50 says, The production company controlled the narrative.

HBO did show the Maryville elementary school female student that came to check on the injured Alcoa player after the game and even brought him a gift to cheer him up. There was some good stuff in the documentary about the Alcoa/Maryville rivalry that people could focus on if they wanted to instead of the negative. (Not specifically speaking of you). As a neutral outsider I think they did a good job of covering the good, bad and the ugly.

There are so many crossover stories. Good stories that were never mentioned. Larry Hodge was on the video, they never mentioned that two of his sons played for Maryville and Larry Jr. for Alcoa. They never mentioned that Travonis Hodge is the nephew of Randall Cobb.  They never mentioned A.J. Davis playing for Maryville, the grandson of Albert Davis. This is not 8 Miles of hate like S. Pitt and Jasper.

I wish I could phonetically spell how Gary Rankin says school. \ ˈskül  \

It's called Curiosity Stream. It's about two bucks a month. I got it just to watch this. Roku has an APP PS4 does not. You can log in on a computer also. It's similar to Netflix or Hulu.

I got the twenty dollar plan for the year so wife can stay busy watching movies all the time and stay out of my hair. Worth every penny.

I don’t think there’s an L in his pronunciation. I hear skoo…

Gooder stuff RR. Your descriptions are what I remember of The Greatest Rivalry. Those interactions among the kids growing up together, some as distant cousins, same little league teams, youth group, girlfriends, etc. Those are THE stories, not the coaches, parents, or jumbotrons.

No where in the documentary did Nix say anything about Maryville’s heritage and the association with the Rebel flag caused him to go coach at Alcoa. He never mention anything as a specific reason for coaching at Alcoa despite playing for Maryville. You are trying to portray something that isn’t there. This is why you sound like you have an axe to grind.

Do I need to come to Milan and meet you at the Chow Wagon and rewatch that part and explain what he was saying. Alcoa pays better for teaching positions than Maryville which would draw someone like Sweetland to leave Farragut or Nix to stay instead of considering Catholic. Their both great coaches and we love to give them a hard time all in fun. Each school has adopted each others troubled players over the past to give them new hope in a different surrounding without having to leave the county but the downside is the flack they get from this rivalry. After the big game all is forgotten and life moves on.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
