I'm a Tomcat fan, so I hope you're right about Haywood.  I think the Haywood coaches do a great job, but BPM and Milan scare me.  Lol

Covington is another team I support.  The Chargers may have lost some key players, but Coach Kirby always adjusts and comes up with a great game plan.  Dyersburg put up a lot of points last year, but the Trojans also gave up a lot of points.  If Dyersburg hopes to go far, they are going to have to make some improvements on defense.

The Haywood-Milan and Covington-Dyersburg games should be good ones.

Stacmot, I love reading your post because you keep it real. I am a Dyersburg fan and agree with you 100%. The defense has a lot of work to do if the team hopes to make it out the 2nd round. We are notorious for doing well in the regular season only to get bounced in the first or second round of the playoffs. Hopefully Coach Decker being back in town on the defensive staff will help us with defensive adjustments and getting the kids in the right spots to make plays. Time will tell!

Thanks Dash, I enjoy reading your posts as well, and I think Coach Decker will be great asset to the Trojans.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit peeved at Dyersburg for refusing to schedule Haywood this year.  I'll get over it though.  lol

You're right! It wasn't right!  I looked at the ratings again, and I saw that I had overlooked Sequatchie.  My apologies to the Indians and Indian fans.

After all, I did say, "I'm sure I made mistakes."  It looks like Massey has the purple and gold ranked 231 in the state.  That would put them at number 18 on the 3A list barring any other mistakes.

1.  Alcoa (24)
2.  Covington (68)
3.  East Nashville (91)
4.  Giles Co. (119)
5.  Loudon (129)
6.  Austin-East (140)
7.  Maplewood (141)
8.  Dyersburg (144)
9.  Gatlinburg-Pittman (145)
10.  Ripley (151)
11. Stratford (154)
12. Fairview (170)
13. Signal Mountain (172)
14. Pigeon Forge (179)
15. Waverly (188)
16. Kingston (194)
17. White House (212)
18. Sequatchie Co.(231)
19. Stewart Co. (234)
20. Camden (240)

2-8 last year and a first time head coach (with a late start) this season.

If Sequatchie doesn't have the injury bug hit them like last year with this years schedule and new Region.  I think (6-4), (7-3) should be attainable along with at least the #2 spot in the Region and a home playoff game. IMO

I understand, but you shouldn't be surprised!

No, not all polls are but this one is. It has some teams that will likely go 5-5 in their top 100. The two best teams in IIA are behind some average teams.

Another point is Alcoa is young this year and is not what they have been. I would take the field vs them to win it. Rankin is a HOF coach but he might have to do his best coaching job ever to win it.

Wrong…

Alcoa will win the 3A championship for the foreseeable future. It is just a joke. I saw their schedule where they have added Union County.:roflol:

At least UC agreed to come to Alcoa’s Region. Everyone else is desperately trying to bolt. Also sad when you’ve got Betsy, Greeneville and the cows from Anderson County backing off their agreements only to pound their chests at the end of their season about how good they are. Also, props to West High. They were man enough to take on the challenge unlike the rest of the Knoxville high school sissies…

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
