A ton of 2023 kids are committing early

I have been seeing more and more 2023 kids committing to schools early.  More than any other class I can remember.   Do you think it is because of the transfer portal?  I can't recall a class before them committing this early?  Thoughts?

I don't think the portal has anything to do with it. 2023 players won't come in until the fall of 2023 (playing wise). I think most schools using the portal are doing so because they need players immediately.  I really feel the portal affects the immediate year's class. Could be wrong!

With the portal and immediate eligibility now a major thing, coaches are going to save schollies for transfers who can be immediate help. So that means that if high school prospects want to be sure they have a spot at a particular school and they have a committable offer they are claiming it early.
