There is a lot more participation in the lower weight classes across the state

That’s true over in the (east) region how many of those 103’s were under 100 pounds in the west region 14,11,11,9 how many girls weigh 235 that want to wrestle and could not because of the heaviest weight being 215?
Those numbers are again going to change because the 2 regions have split to 4 regions now.

Also giving the numbers from Covid season where many programs were not allowed to wrestle or loss girls due to Covid protocol

This number does not show girls in the same weight class on the same team that having a 180 weight class would have helped instead reduces weight classes causing more girls finding themselves on the bench when it comes to the region tournament.

It is what it is. Work on the future. Get positive with the girls you coach if you coach. Don’t let weight classes become a negativity. In a few years they will reassess the weights. We are fans on this board and not the TSSAA or the girls wrestling committee that advises the TSSAA.
