Both Halls and Clinton nailed the blueprint for neutralizing the Powell offense. We'll see if OR follows suit.

What’s going on with Powell? I didn’t get to watch much of the game tonight, but 14 points against Halls? No disrespect to Halls, but that’s shocking.

I gotta believe that the OR D is better than both of those teams. Could be interesting to say the least.

If they sit back in a 2-3 deep zone and keep an eye on Potts to run, we'll see exactly what we saw tonight. Powell's only points came off of a short field caused by turnovers. They just don't really have a great running game to counter that, so Lowe is going to have to get creative.

Believe it or not, I think Clinton exposed them last week. The only offense they could really muster against Clinton for ~3 quarters were QB scrambles and some plays in the running game. Clinton got pressure with 4 down linemen, and just played 2 and 3 deep zone coverage. The only mistake they made was losing contain on Potts, and he made them pay a few times.

Halls didn't really get any QB pressure tonight, but they did a great job of spying Potts, to go along with that 2-3 deep zone look. Frustrated the heck out of the offense. Potts wanted to take the top off the defense, but it was rarely there. When it was, he couldn't hit it. I don't think he had a single keeper tonight either.

Wow. I might end up being right. I have predicted an Oak Ridge victORy several times and said the OR coaches will out coach Powell. Now, we just need to have a great week of practice.

We'll see how it goes, Willie. What I saw tonight is what I expected to see next week. Hopefully Lowe has something up his sleeve.

The one saving grace for Powell right now is that their defense the past 3 games has been light years ahead of where they were in August. It also helps that Walter Nolen is in better game shape now.

Interesting. No run game either?

Not much of one, at least not tonight. Halls runs a 3-4 defense, and I was impressed with their linebackers' ability to beat blockers to the point of attack. Powell has a very good offensive line, but they haven't looked great when it comes to run blocking.

They ran it pretty well against Clinton. And they've run well enough this season to keep teams honest. But the one thing they lack on offense is a game breaker at running back. They've got 3 guys that have all gotten significant carries this season, but they don't have that go-to back that they've had in the past. In the final minutes tonight, with the game on the line, Connor Wheeler was getting the bulk of the carries, and he's a freshman.

Seems they’ve lacked a guy back there for awhile, a breakout type back. As good as Potts is back there and with the great pass attack they have had in recent memory, they haven’t needed it against most of the teams they play. When you start getting deeper on into the playoffs or against stellar competition it can rear its ugly head though.

Powell is struggling. Running game is not what it should be. They don’t seem to have a true running back. #3, #15 and #13 lack break away speed. Advantage Oak Ridge. I think #4 should be given a shot back there. Passing game is very inconsistent. #2, #9, #11 are studs. Didn’t see much of # 22, who appears to be the fastest of the three. Heard he was hooked up to IV this week at ER with stomach bug.  Coaching there is baffling. With that being said, Oak Ridge does a better job coaching their players up. I think Oak Ridge wins this game by “Coaching”.  Coach Gaddis and his staff get the edge on that one. I don’t see Powell getting past West, Oak Ridge or Halls (if they meet again) in post season Powell fans may not like to hear this, but too much hype and too many individuals. Oak Ridge upsets Powell 35-28

It should be an interesting game. Coach Miner (OR DC) usually draws up a pretty good gameplan against Powell. We've also had a week extra to prepare, so have to keep that in mind, too. I'm not gonna go as far as to say we will win, but I like our chances a lot better than I did say 3 weeks ago or so. Lowe may be waiting for the right time to unveil some new wrinkles though, you just never know. They definitely have the talent to beat us, for sure.

    • Things don’t change that dramatically all at once lol. Fulton is the result of a few decades, at least. But yeah, my main point is the obviousness of all the kids he’s brought in there.
    • Ever heard of fulton high school? Things change Im not saying your wrong or right. I just think that AC is worried Clinton might catch them if whatever they are doing continues. I know he is bringing kids in
    • Both places Woods has been at have gotten better pretty quickly after his arrival. If you can win consistently in Metro while having to fend off the vultures from picking your roster clean, your doing something right
    • They typically have a handful of black kids (nothing at all wrong with that, it’s great), but these past few years both sides of the ball have been primarily black kids. Again, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, in general, all I’m saying is that the past few seasons or so, the teams demographics just doesn’t match what it has been, historically speaking. And that didn’t start, until Keith got there. That’s all I’m saying. Rather odd how that just starts magically happening ever since he got there.
    • I have always known Clinton and the football team to be diverse. Not saying its like Knox but I would say more so than you're leading onto. Maybe more kids are wanting to play for a minority coach like that OL that commityed to Colorado over UT due to Deion "looking like him"- Jordan Seaton
