Lincoln County has fired their coach, halfway through his (bad so far) second season. My guess is they're trying to give themselves time to gear up to go after a big hire to try to salvage the program after a run of about 15 mediocre to bad seasons.

LCHS Coach Released

Seems like ever since the new super rolled into town the Football program has gone down hill.

LCHS only had two winning seasons in the seven prior to his arrival, and we all know Fayetteville City has had a huge impact in the last five years or so.  Impossible to even remotely (and credibly) argue that this coincides with the Director of Schools.

It's worse even than than that. Including this season, they've only had 2 winning seasons in the last 13, and their last really good year was 2003.

City currently has far better athletes and is now a big factor, but it only came into existence in 2011 and wasn't a power until 2019, after Palmer retired. LCHS started a fade after 2003 and was already pretty bad by Thompson's last two seasons, prior to City's launch. The down years now span 4 coaches from Thompson to Rose.

All of the athletes in LC go to the Fayetteville City school and play small school ball. LC will never be competitive unless that changes.

All student athletes in Lincoln County attended LCHS from 1979-2011.

They had a 12 year long “glory era” from 1982-93 with 3 state championships.  Truly a  great run.

Since 1994, they’ve gone 9-20 in the playoffs and made it to the 3rd round once in almost 3 decades.

LCHS last won a post-season game in 2007.

FHS added sophomores in 2011.

He was at Law. Co also as super!  They are bad too!  He fired DT and hired his buddy TJ (no teaching job) then had to fire his man and then he hires Rose (no teaching job)  had to fire him, another retired Alabama person in the system double dipping.  He also hired a dude to coach basketball from alabama.  That guy even told him he would be in murfreesboro at the state tournament in 3 years! They were also bad.    Funny!   Go ahead just lay it all on Fayetteville City.   Make excuses.  No doubt the only reason you won in the past were those kids at Fayetteville city.  You do not have those kids.  It has been a long time.  Go compete!  Hire a good solid coach.  That is exactly the mentality the kids have now days. They listen to people making excuses for them.   Feel sorry for yourself.  Great mentality!  If you were actually a pullinGuard I hope you didn't go out and think wow the only reason I get to play is because all the good players are at Fayetteville city!

No doubt Fayetteville City has AAA athletes that Lincoln Co. needs to compete. No coach can win at that level with A athletes.

Did you see the statistics since 1994?  9-20 in the post-season, one 3rd round appearance in decades, no post-season win since 2007, etc.

LCHS didn’t win WITH the athletes who now stay at FHS.

Is he the super at Lawrence County now?  How good are they now? When were they consistently good?

As for Alabama double-dippers, how big of a problem did you have with John Meadows?  He was the best, so I have no issue with Alabama double dippers in general.  Why do you?  Being in a geographic spot where your options are better because of that is a positive, not a negative.

There is no magic.  I hope they can find a good coach who can put them in a better spot.  But anyone who thinks the players don't matter is delusional.

I have no problem with Fayetteville's success - happy for them and with them.  There is no magic solution and no quick one at LCHS.  The best news for LC is that they have shown that they are willing to spend the money to hire a top level coach and there is good support in the community.  Hopefully they can find one who is really good at winning with fewer athletes that many/most teams he will play.  I hope that they do, but I know it's not as simple a typing a bunch of nonsense like you just did.

And no, I wasn't worried about Fayetteville City when I played, because all of those guys were playing with me at LCHS.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
