Station Camp - How far will they go?

Wow, I mean what a turn around for the Bison of Station Camp. Last week beat Mt. Juliet with the come from behind win 29-28. Last night seemed slow to wake up with playing on fall break and went down to Wilson Central 10-0 but the Bison ended up winning 41-16. Looks like that Green Hills game in 2 weeks the Bison can outright win the region championship. Seems like every opposing coach has talked about the Bison’s offensive tempo playing a big factor and their defense only allowing some 10 points per game. How far can they truly go?

I mean if they can win their own region, then they're capable of making it to Chattanooga

The teams that moved up from 5a to 6a have made the west side of the bracket much weaker. The East side of 5a is still very strong in my opinion. There are 5 teams from that side that are better than any team on the West side.

this is a fair statement.

Same number, but not the same teams. There's plenty of logic in saying that 5A is weaker without Summit and Beech

A lot of the 5A threats from last year are now in 6A. So yeah, if you are just -pretty good-, you can win 5A this year.

MidTenn,  That's not what he said.  Your statement it true.  two good 5a teams moved up. He said, "a lot of the 5a threats... if you are just pretty good you can win 5a this year."

Those are two dramatically different statements.   We didn't say the same thing in 2017 when both Independence and farragut moved up to 6a...

It's illogical.  other teams will fill the void.  That's just the way it is.

In fact it was Beech that won in 2017,  Probably because the previous finalists moved up, so you could just be pretty good and win.

I don't think it's a big leap to say 5A is as weak as it's ever been. That's not a shot at East TN teams, but a realization that the west is devoid of any teams capable of winning a championship.

Nobody mentions Indy or Farragut because they didn't leave a void on one side of the bracket like the teams mentioned have

Other teams will fill the void, but that doesn't mean 5A is just as good

    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
