Bearden @ Farragut

Further out west from Knox West’s region championship game, another big West Knoxville matchup is happening with Farragut taking on Bearden at home. Not sure if this is the rivalry it once was but it’s an interesting one. Farragut has a potent offense with a soft defense, Bearden has a stingy defense with a struggling offense. Bearden coming off a big AC win and Farragut coming off tough Fulton loss. Pretty sure a win would put Bearden in the playoffs. I like Farragut +7 but I wouldn’t be surprised by anything. Curious what y’all think on this matchup.

This one has big playoff implications. If Bearden wins, they clinch the #3 seed and Farragut is out. If Farragut wins, you'll have a 3-way tie for 3rd (assuming Cleveland takes care of HVA). Since each team would have the same head-to-head record, Cleveland would get the #3 seed (based on overall wins), and Farragut would then clinch the #4 spot (based on the head-to-head win over Bearden).

Pretty simple - Win and you're in. Lose and your season is over. Give me Farragut by a FG.

Has anyone figured out the playoff scenarios for this game?

From what I have read, if Bearden wins they are the 3 seed.  Cleveland is a lock beat HVA and be the 4 seed, which would leave Farragut is out.

If Farragut wins, then we have a 3 way tie for 3rd place with a head to head to head scenario with Bearden, Farragut, and Cleveland all with 2 region wins.  The next tiebreaker is total wins and Cleveland would have the edge with 6 wins there.

My question is, when Cleveland wins the 3 seed out of the 3 way tie (if Farragut wins Friday), do you move down the list of tiebreakers to decide between BHS/FHS, OR does it go back to head to head where Farragut would get the nod?

Farragut and Bearden have played the exact same schedule except with FHS playing Beech (6-3) and BHS playing Anderson Co. (4-5)  After head to head and total wins, the next tiebreakers are

-games played against the greatest number of teams who have won 50% of their games

-wins against teams that have won 50% of their games

-team whose opponents have earned the most victories

-team whose opponents have received fewer defeats

-coin flip

logic says it would go back to head to head.  But it's a great question.

Really makes the game so much more intruiguing.

tie breaker starts back over at that point and will go to head to head. this is a survive and advance, lose and go home situation for the west knox patsys.

Farragut will need to pass to win. Can their O-line give them time? Don't see it! I'll take Bearden in a low scoring game!

Looking at the 50%chance of rain in the forecast makes me very nervous. Farragut needs to pass, like you said, and if the rain takes that away…well…I’ll be concerned.

So, this game is really interesting to me. Bearden has a good defense and Farragut has a good pass game. Bearden has a low scoring offense and Farragut has a defense that has struggled at times. I don’t think it’s a bad defense necessarily…there have been problems with the secondary and the front bunch struggles heavily with a power runner but they have had their upsides as well. Having to use 75 both ways really hurts us.
I think for Farragut to win, the QB and WRs have to be on point and have a good game. The O line being so down kinda takes away our run game. The defense needs to have one of its better games but honestly for the most part, I like our defense against Bearden’s offense.

i think for Bearden to win, they will need their defense to shut down Farragut’s pass game. If they can pressure the QB and disrupt routes they will have their best chance. Also if it rains, I think that gives Bearden an advantage. Yeah, I know it rains on everyone the same, but not everyone relies on their air show like we have needed to this year.
