Class 4A Region 1 Best Teams

The Big 5 schedule wrapped up last night.  The final district standings looked like this:

1. Dobyns-Bennett 8-0
2. Science Hill 6-2
3. Daniel Boone 2-6
4. David Crockett 2-6
5. West Ridge 2-6

Not sure how the 3-5 seeds for the district tournament will play out as all 3 are 2-2 against the other two.  Guess it'll be a coin flip?  Talk about a lucky break for the one who gets the 3 seed.  Automatic region berth determined by a coin flip.

District 2 looks like it has one game remaining between Sevier County and Jefferson County on Monday.  Sevier should win that one barring a monumental upset, which leaves a tie between them and Morristown East for the conference title.  Morristown West will be the 3 seed with Jefferson County 4.  All four of those are already in the region without having to play a tournament game.

Mo-East has 1 problem...a tall problem.. I was told. I expect that Greeneville will put another L on the Hurricanes this week.

DB is #1 in Region 1 - that's not much of a debate right now.  But debates will be over soon, District Tournament next week and Region follows week after. Indians will play @ the Dome for any/all District Tournament games.

This is Coach Poore's 4th Regular Season Conference Title in 5 seasons at DB. What a Coach and what a team!

I spoke to coach Poore last night and he said that the JV is at 5 with Varsity at 6:30.

• Consolation at Higher seed -- 7:00
• Championship at Higher seed -- 7:00

In District 2,  my understanding is Sevier Co and East will be co-regular season champions with a Sevier County win over Jeff on Monday.  Regardless, for district tournament, East will play Jeff and Sevier will play Morristown West.

Pulling for WR in that elimination game... Def rather play WR than Crockett at the Dome, because of larger crowd size.

DB is getting better each and every game they hit the court.

6 of top 10 in 4a are Region 1 & 2 teams. I know thats not right but still great for our kids and coaches and fans in E. Tn,

Gville/East looks like best game on schedule for tonight. Should be fun when tourneys start next week.

What do you think about DB and East going up against Region 2 with Oak Ridge, Farragut, or Bearden in a Sectional?

i personally think Db is going to State. Depth to 8 deep with not much droppff if any and one of the best in business coaching them. East has stuggled some lately but still think them and Db come out here. At Jeff and if they stay out of foul troble East can beat Db. if East wins region i think Db and East go. if east travels for substate prob 50/50 for them i know Beaden gets most of press down there but nobody wants to play Farragut at Farragut. Hope Bearden wins that region and our 2 east tn teams have a chance to go. i honestly havent seen Oak Ridge so its hard to comment on them. Obviously they are capable.

 

EAST plays Farragut , Monday. Thats interesting to me

Greeneville beats East pretty solid. I’m thinking the Indians are the one and only best chance for R1 to make it to sub states or states. East might be number 3 in the region and The Hill a very shaky 2.
