Bearden open

Josh Jones is the new head coach at Bearden. End of story. He is going to be a star.

Some of you all need to get over yourselves. What Bearden is doing is very progressive. Why should whether or not you have a teaching license determine your worth as a coach? It shouldn’t. Some of the best coaches in this city don’t work for the school system!

A lot of local players will want to play for JJ. He knows them all! That’s what he does best, identify talent and pull together a great group of athletes. Same with coaches. You’ll see a lot of coaches leave their current school to go coach with Josh- Especially in schools where the HC limits their potential!

Now move on! If you’re worried a “recruit” is going to play over your kid, maybe you should get them in some camps and encourage them to work harder!

The word is that a Catholic QB will be following Jones. This is bigger news than the HC hire. Bearden hasn’t had a QB since Ironside graduated.

Is he planning on sitting out a year or will her apply for some sort of hardship transfer through TSSAA. I still think there is a 20 mile rule to go from private to public. He could move to a school far enough away and enroll there to establish a history away from Catholic. It's been tried before but l think TSSAA  takes every transfer on its own merits. Might take some deal making or an attorney but it might happen. Good luck.

Beardens MAC teams have been very good the last few years. I don't think talent is a problem at Bearden recently. I think the problem has been getting the talent you have coached properly.

i tend to agree with this Sparty but on the other hand  if BHS had Karns Gibbs Halls Carter on the schedule every year they'd win 4 more games which would make them a 8-10 win per season powerhouse. Apples to oranges. If the Smokies are good it doesn't mean the Cubs automatically will be.

    • Things don’t change that dramatically all at once lol. Fulton is the result of a few decades, at least. But yeah, my main point is the obviousness of all the kids he’s brought in there.
    • Ever heard of fulton high school? Things change Im not saying your wrong or right. I just think that AC is worried Clinton might catch them if whatever they are doing continues. I know he is bringing kids in
    • Both places Woods has been at have gotten better pretty quickly after his arrival. If you can win consistently in Metro while having to fend off the vultures from picking your roster clean, your doing something right
    • They typically have a handful of black kids (nothing at all wrong with that, it’s great), but these past few years both sides of the ball have been primarily black kids. Again, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, in general, all I’m saying is that the past few seasons or so, the teams demographics just doesn’t match what it has been, historically speaking. And that didn’t start, until Keith got there. That’s all I’m saying. Rather odd how that just starts magically happening ever since he got there.
    • I have always known Clinton and the football team to be diverse. Not saying its like Knox but I would say more so than you're leading onto. Maybe more kids are wanting to play for a minority coach like that OL that commityed to Colorado over UT due to Deion "looking like him"- Jordan Seaton
