Can not comment on Tully, however, I can comment on Haywood. I know nothing about Tully. From what I hear and read, it sure sounds like they have a great team that is loaded with seniors. If, Tully beats Haywood they have beaten a fantastic football team. Haywood is good in all aspects of the game. I think Tully is going to be impressed with the kicking game from Haywood. The kicker there is really really good.

I hope it is a great game. May the best team win, and Go Tomcats!

Tullahoma’s kicker is pretty impressive!!! He is 1 of 5 kicker finalist for Mr. Football.

And there is 2 of them 2 years apart. 95% touchback on all the kickoffs. You have to plan to start every drive on your  20 all night long. Field goals inside the 40 are almost a guarantee. And have hardly punted this season but they are just as good there too.

Same here. Reid Russell has kicked for us 4 years now. Only a handful of his kicks have been returnable, they usually end up in the back of the endzone, so i guess both teams will have to drive the ball.

So Wilkins stadium was renovated in 2009 and we have bragged on how nice it is, we have hyped up how good the football team is; but, we also have an award winning 156 member marching band that rocks the stadium with Tullahoma’s fight song along with other great pep tunes every Friday night….They may be a little depleted this week since it is fall break and Thanksgiving, hopefully will still sound awesome!

As you can see above, Tullahoma's football facilities are as nice as you will find in TN. Great high school baseball stadium, too. As an outsider, we have always heard that Arnold Air Force base, which takes up a lot of both Coffee and Franklin Counties, has put a lot of money into schools and facilities there.

Not true.  All individually for each school.  No help on facilities.

If I remember correctly Tullahoma paid $6 million for the stadium along with all other upgrades to the facility, the booster club furnished the Jumbotron…..While AEDC employees many from this area, there isn’t any direct financial support, some indirect support through  STEM programs.

In the late 1960's and early 1970's a little federal money came to town to help with the schools due to a large influx of federal workers. But nothing comes directly from the AEDC complex other than some decent salaries that help with the tax base some. We have a pretty good sales tax collection that helps with the school funding better than other cities our size. Wait until the Blue Oval starts spending in Haywood County, y'all guys will have a domed stadium and so many kids you'll have to move to 6A with 2 teams.

There's not many examples of a program getting bumped a classification midcycle, but I think your probably right. I wouldn't be surprised if Haywood doubles in size in 5 years

NFHS Network Games from last Friday:

Haywood vs South Gibson

Pearl Cohn at Tullahoma

NFHS is a subscription site but now is a good time to join for a month. You can watch all of the semifinal replays that they have plus the state championships. If you join I get a free month. Not a big deal to me. I think it is $10.99 for a month. Of course, you can watch the finals on TV, also, for "free".
