I'm asking this to the OR fans close to the program...   Does having such a rich football history really matter now?     OR has won or been in several state title games in the past, but those guys are all long graduated.    Does that have any meaning to a new coach coming in?

uh??? they went to state in 2020 man.

It doesn't if the current student body can't support great football now. Oak Ridge will have a very good team in 2022 though, just loaded with good athletes and their 9th graders are really good.

I agree on the Witten thing, he's not moving to OR from his home. I'd sure take a hard look at Steve Matthews if I was Joe G.

BTW, I heard from a source who knew all these moves were going to happen( Joe retires, Mullins resigns, Joe takes over AD) and he told me to keep my eye on Scott Cummins. We'll see.

I don't know the Knox-vegas area like you guys, but if I remember right didn't Cummins win a state title @ Knox West a few years ago?

Good fan support.Still have great talent.Runner up 15 yrs ago and last yr.At least 3 teams that was good enough to win it all in last 10 years. Not many places can compare to the ship on a Friday night. With the right staff they could win multiple chips and not a lot of schools can say that.
