Celina over Hampton

Celina with a real nice 5pt win over Hampton. Great bounce back after losing to York last week. It was in Celina, but beating a team of Hampton’s caliber is still impressive (as Hampton is one of the best 1A teams in the east and expected to be in Murfreesboro at seasons end).

How did Hampton look? I know they have been playing well. The east is going to come down to Hampton and North Greene. I definitely could see both squads making it to the glass house. No one else is really that good. The other two contenders could be Harriman and Oneida.

Hampton matched up pretty well with Clay and it was a good back and forth game to watch. They have good size and can shoot the lights out from deep i’m surprised they didn’t utilize more set plays for their shooters with their big guys screening off the ball. They will be a tough out for anyone in single A. I thought they had solid bench players and guard play , but Strong was definitely the difference maker with 46 and 12.  Both teams should make it far and maybe meet again later down the road.

I am guessing that you have not seen Pickett County play yet. My personal opinion is that they are 1 of the top Single A teams in the state. There are not many teams in 2 or 3AA that could play with them this year

He was talking about East TN in general. Hampton definitely has the potential to compete with Pickett Co. , and will have a size advantage on them. I’ve seen both teams play and Pickett still has to worry about getting completely healthy first or they will get beat by plenty of single A teams.

Very doubtful. Pickett Co hasn't lost to any team under 4A. Their three losses were to 4A teams. They have 4 wins over 3A teams. Will Amonett has been out but Heath Wattenberger has been very impressive starting now. Will should be back. They have 4 starters who are great 3 point shooters so if you try to double team one player, someone else will drain a three. They had 12 alone in the first half in one game and mostly subs played the 2nd half and added 4 more...against 3A Cannon Co This may be the best PC team since the 1995 state champions...led by Mr Basketball Joseph Amonett who is now our coach. This team has his 3 sons...two senior starters and a freshman starter. Beat by many single A teams? None yet and it's more like there are few teams in single A that could beat them.

Have you even seen Hampton play to make that statement like TheTruthHurts22 has?  You shooting off at the hip and bragging about losses to 3 teams that have a combined record of 19-19 like they are world beaters just because they are larger schools (All three wont be in the conversations in their classification either).  Lets see how Hampton does against Powell this Monday before you throw out the very doubtful comment

I know this of topic but how good is Livingston Academy? Meigs beat them by 52 points, I know this Meigs team is pretty good this year but I was really surprised by the score 87-35

Hampton is definitely a team I wouldn't want to run into in the first round down in Murfreesboro. They play 94 feet,their long and athletic, shoot the ball extremely well from the perimeter and they're bench is very deep . Very well coached and they know how to adjust well to each opponent. Having said that Hamptons only downfall that might hurt them is their conference is pretty weak outside of North Greene which could end up down in Murfreesboro as well.  More than likely that will be your regional championship game and regardless I don't see Hampton or North Greene losing on the road. There's a big difference between what either of those teams will play their last two or three games compared to the likes of a first round matchup against Peabody,Union City or a Clay County for the second time . But there's no question Hampton is talented enough to win a game or two down in Murfreesboro if not the whole thing.

Livingston is in a very bad place in male sports right now.

Looks like Hampton lost to Powell by 22 so the record of that 4a school may be deceiving...Pickett lost by 3.
