Retiring or resigning? If retiring I would guess it's Rankin, but I suspect he still has the desire to coach a few more years.

Retiring.

Not the one you mentioned, but from what I am hearing that one might not be too far in the future, either.

The old school coaches are over the new version hi-tech kids and going through the rigors of kids jumping ship for perceived better opportunities, or directed to other schools by NPA and D-2 type businesses that shop kids. If for the good or the bad, it's how it is now and will become even more prevalent in the future. Coaches from my era are not in love with this and are moving out to pasture. I suspect movement in the head coaching ranks will become more volatile as time goes on.

We are seeing this some in the college ranks as well with the NIL situation. Times are changing folks and it will either succeed or fail depending on how we support it with our dollars.

Yep.

Social media, personal trainers, year round 7 on 7, and helicopter parents have changed the high school football landscape in a big way.  Some of it for the good, but most of it no so much.  Too much pressure for coaches to win immediately, even after taking over bad programs.  Coaching burnout is happening much more often than it did in times past.
